@mokey Agree with all of that - but credit for Langman being back has to go to Taurua

The reliance on Folau is a real worry as she is the absolute epitome of a confidence player. Probably defines one more than anyone in any sport. When the force is with her she is incandescent and is nailing them from everywhere- miss a couple under the posts and / or get bullied - not so much.

She’s the netball version of Beauden Barrett. Except he’s not married to a homophobe bible bashing over rated rugby player..

Maybe he could spend more time praying to the sky fairy to keep wifey's shooting % in the mid 90s

I have a passing interest in netball.

Enough to want to know the results, but not enough to go out of my way to watch any of it.

Anyway, two from two for the goodies to date. Cleaned up Barbados overnight.

We have the easier side of the draw - almost as if it was designed for us to qualify.

Other semi-finalists should be England Jamaica and Oz.

Just like CWC there could well be a new name on the trophy at the end of the Championship.

It is conceivable that neither Oz nor NZ make the Final

England have lost one of their starting defenders (Guscoth) to a ruptured Achilles. No injury replacements allowed.

I can understand why the rule is in place. It's a short tournament with games each day, so you can't disadvantage teams like NZ, Aust etc who would have to fly a replacement player in compared to the hosts. Sokolich-Beatson had to fly back to NZ once Rore was confirmed to be fit.

That's why they have a 2 day stand down for injury replacements at RWC.

    I read it differently.

From what I can tell - If we beat Australia Thursday night we'll most likely play South Africa in the semi finals. If we lose to Australia we'll play England.

Whilst it looks like we avoid Australia in the semis it seems we are likely to come up against England.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/netball/netball-world-cup/114240259/netball-world-cup-australia-will-provide-litmus-test-for-silver-ferns

If the Ferns were to upset the Diamonds they would top Group F, avoiding a potential semifinal showdown with hosts England, who will likely finish first in Group G.

Lose to Australia and it would be a big ask for the Ferns to knock over England, should they qualify top, in a semifinal at a parochial M&S Bank Arena.

@KiwiMurph I think we are talking about different things I meant we are in the easier side of the draw to qualify for the semi's. Oz and NZ are pretty much the guaranteed semi finalists from Group F and were destined to be so before the championships started. Group G has England, Jamaica and South Africa - all of who could beat NZ - so if we were on the other side of the draw we would be in a 3 way scrap to make the semi's

I can't see us making the final let alone winning it. Noelene Taurua has a history of turning everything she touches to gold but I think this is beyond her. Our team is old. They couldn't do it when they were at their peaks - I don't think they have a last hurrah in them.

I will be more than happy to eat a massive portion of humble pie if I am wrong

@dogmeat Ah yes - sorry - good call - we avoided the group of death.

I must say it is encouraging to see the shooting stats of the Ferns this tournament (and seemingly how the GA and GS are playing) - a real change from the typical.
