NFL 2018

49ers beat the Seahawks in overtime which means I think now the Cardinals currently hold the number 1 spot for the NFL Draft.
Been 5 years and 10 games since the 49ers beat the Seahawks - feels good. Mullens has been a find for the 49ers - very handy backup QB.

Was a crazy final month for the NFL - most of the teams which were firming as Superbowl contenders have gone off the boil apart from the Saints.

And Thursday NIght (aka Friday afternoon) football has been cracking! Despite planning for being horrifically bad...

The New England Patriots' run of success is less down to their great coach and QB, and more to do with being gifted a trash division of 3 teams who haven't been relevant in decades.

@mariner4life it's a significant part of it. Bill and Tom though, have a body if work that takes some beating. Having six easy games a season helps that, but their road wins, perfect season and sustained success can't be ignored.
Also, when the evil empire shut up shop, who's going to take their place as the reason for all bad things happening? Alabama only gets you so far...

Our QB is straight trash

Former Wasps, England and British and Irish Lions winger Christian Wade has been accepted on the NFL international pathway programme. This means he will attend a NFL training camp in Florida, then will be eligible, if a team picks him, for next year's draft. The idea is that he will develop into a running back and kick returner.
It makes me wonder which other Rugby international s could have played NFL if they had wanted?

Halfway through this article and it seems a decent read. Enough to highlight how a decent coach can actually make a difference.
Also, got into a full day of NFL on Christmas Eve. Was sensational - some really great games going on. Thoroughly enjoyed Watson, Mahomes, Brees and Wilson. There are some real talents running around at the moment that make it worth sitting down to watch.
-
Fucking Denver
Defense good enough to get two interceptions and a fumble off the Chargers. The offense good enough to turn those into 1 field goal.
Games going to seed at the moment, no change to playoff teams

Wait, Vikings out, Eagles in.

Mahomes throws 50 TDs..huge favourite for MVP..
Mahomes is in good company with Brady and Manning.Mayfield's breaks the rookie TD passing record too..
Future looks bright with a few of the QB legends of the game retiring in the next year or so..
Mahomes has to be the MVP - definitely shouldn't be Phillip Rivers (maybe Drew Brees).
Baker Mayfield proved many wrong after the Browns took him number one overall. Their interim coach looks set to be ditched as head coach for next season despite doing a pretty great job (considering it is the Browns after all).

Bunch of head coach firings today. Some were obvious like Tampa Bay (Dirk Koetter), NY Jets (Todd Bowles) and Denver (Vance Joseph). Others were a surprise like Miami (Adam Gase) and Arizona (Steve Wilks) where Wilks had only one season in the role.
The big one is the firing of Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis. Many felt he should have been fired years ago as the Bengals struggled in the playoffs but anyone who remembers the Bengals before Lewis will probably know why they hanged onto him for so long.

@Sneakdefreak Lewis recommended his friend Hue Jackson for the HC role. Only if they've taken leave of their senses should they consider him

God bless twitter! For all its toxicity it sometimes helps a brother out especially if that brother supports the 49ers.
So with rumours swirling that WR Antonio Brown wants out of Pittsburgh, 49ers star TE George Kittle sends an innocent tweet to Brown to which he replies:
So now the entire sports media is speculating that Brown is heading to the 49ers, which helps the 49ers' chances in acquiring him. Thanks twitter!
The 49ers also get the 2nd overall pick in this year's draft (Arizona has the first overall pick) which is a highlight on an injury-plagued season. Their receiving corps is pretty good going forward with the best TE in the game in Kittle, rookie Dante Pettis appears to be a legitimate WR1 in the making and Marquise Goodwin has a good rapport with Jimmy G. Adding former Central Michigan star Antonio Brown to the mix would strengthen it of course.

Lewis and the Bengals apparently was a mutual decision. Eric Bieniemy apparently would choose Bengals over any other vacancy so that might be a factor here.
Todd Monken looks like the strongest HC candidate for my money.

@Sneakdefreak from what i read, it might cost the Steelers too much to trade him out.
-
@mariner4life They might not have a choice, he's just unfollowed them on instagram. That's like, oh mi god, like ya know, a big deal.
Something is definitely rotten within the Steelers organisation when their star RB and now star WR want out for good.
