@tim said in CLUB RUGBY 2018:
Ponsonby will play Eden and University will play College Rifles in the semifinals.
Go the mighty Eden.
Looking at that there's only 16 clubs now?
My day there were 21.
Looks like Teachers-Eastern and Carlton have been absorbed into Grammar.
Couldn't see Roskill, Te Atatu or Tamaki (as opposed to East Tamaki) on that list.
Is Waitakere the old Bay-Lynn?
Dwindling numbers not exclusive to country clubs?
-
@booboo Yes Teachers Eastern and Grammar Carlton merged to make Grammar TEC (TEC stands for Teachers Eastern Carlton), Roskill merged with Eden for a bit in the 2000s to make Eden Roskill but Eden have gone on their own similar to the Northern Eagles experiment in the NRL in the early 2000s before Manly went on their own, Te Atatu are Waitakere these days, Tamaki merged with Marist around the same time Eden and Roskill merged but the agreement was done providing Tamaki weren't part of the name so Marist could remain as Marist, and Suburbs are the old Bay-Lynn.
-
@african-monkey thanks AM.
So Roskill just disappeared after that? Shame if so. Although I never had a great deal of love for them after they bought and paid for half the Counties team to play for them in 1990 it's never a good thing for clubs to disappear.
Also Suburbs have always been Suburbs (Craig Dowd played for them). They were based at Avondale Racecourse in those days. Did Bay-Lynn merge with them?

Programme for tomorrow's North Harbour club finals:
Be interested to see how Jack Heighton (Blues U20, usually plays halfback) goes at 10. Harrison Levien (ex-Waikato) is at 9 for Northcote, who have Ben Nee-Nee (ex-Auckland) at lock too.
Harrison Groundwater is at 15 for ECB, so their midfielders must be decent.
Anyone know much about the Moala-Liava’a brothers (?) lining up for East Coast Bays?
