Glad you enjoyed it Higgins.
Must have been nerve wracking waiting for the final whistle before the inevitable relief of winning ...
The right winger was. apparently, Sebastian Visinia who played for Auckland Under 19 last year. He is a big boy, when I saw him against Napier OB Marist he was midfield.
Are you sure Trent Boswell-Wakefield did not come on for the last 20 minutes? On Friday the Tech captain told me he would.
He might have done as there was a tallish "skinny" looking guy that came on with about 15 minutes left. As I said the TMO panel I was watching the game with told me has arrived back home minus a fair bit of weight. My concentration by that time had waivered a bit and we were became deeply involved in discussing that famous try yours truly scored against the Dannevirke Derelects way back in 1987 and why I did not bring it round behind the goalposts.
There was even a good old fashioned one on one stouch shortly before halftime that saw some decent aggressive punches thrown (almost all of which missed). The TMO panel disagreed with the Referee's decision to wave just the one yellow card! Oh and the players (and at least one supporter) aftermatch feed was up to proper non main centre provincial standards, not a spoonful of pasta, mince or curried sausage to be seen. Ahhhhh, the pleasures of one of my all too infrequent visits home these days, supplemented by the happy hour that kicked in at 6.00pm.

Tamatea have defaulted their quarter final against NOB
Mtoday -
@stockcar86 Wow. NOBM was always going to win, but this really gives them an easy ride into the semis.

Two defaults marred today's round in Hawke's Bay's Tui Nash Cup premier club rugby competition. Yesterday Central defaulted their playoff for ninth place against Clive at Farndon Park. Central officials told Hawke's Bay Rugby Football Union's club development officer Gary Macdonald a high injury count contributed to the default. At 10am today Tamatea defaulted their quarterfinal against defending champions Napier Old Boys Marist at Park Island. Eleven of our regular 22 players are on our injured list. Among those are four of our six adequately trained frontrowers and we don't have a seconds team which we can pick from," Tamatea head coach Matt Marsh explained. "It's the first time we've defaulted and it wasn't an easy decision. We put an SOS out and got no reply. We're not blessed with 10 frontrowers like our neighbours across the road," Marsh said referring to Hastings Rugby and Sports who have regularly played one of their props at No 8 this season.
Results and scorers:
Taradale 16 (D McIntyre try; D Loibl 2, B Truesdale pens; Truesdale con), Havelock North 13 (I Paewai try; D Snee 2 pens; R Tongia con). HT: Havelock 7-6. Napier Technical 55 (J Taulagi 5, T Joel, D Ramsay, T Walters, S Visibia tries; Taulagi 5 cons), MAC 5 (F Selesele try). HT: 17-0. Hastings Rugby and Sports 52 (D Toala 2, T Agnew 2, T Vaiusu 2, J Saifiti, F Matamata tries; Vaiusu 5, I Ioane cons), Napier Pirate Rugby and Sports 18 (G Naera, T Symes tries; Z Clarke 2 pens, con). HT: 28-6. Napier Old Boys Marist beat Tamatea by default. Clive beat Central by default.
.
JJ Taulagi is a try-scoring monster. Hope he will do the same for the Magpies!
Can someone confirm that Visibia is indeed Visinia? Is this an alternative spelling, or do HBT spell it consistenly wrong?http://www.nzherald.co.nz/hawkes-bay-today/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=1503460&objectid=12041444

Bugger; it's starting already.
Fullback Ryan Tongia collected what appeared to be a serious knee injury in the 70th minute.

It's hard to see NOBM not winning the Nash Cup next weekend. -
This forum badly needs downvote buttons for the last 2 posts

@stargazer Napier Old Boys Marist have been dominated at set piece scrum time by a couple of other teams, but they counter that by playing the game at pace and moving bigger sides around..
-
@steven-harris Yes, when I watched the Tech OB v NOB Marist match, second round, the Tech scrum certainly was the superior one.

HT: 26-16Didn't notice that until I saw this instagram post from Jonah. Glad he has recovered from his injury and that the Canes actually let him play club rugby. Not holding my breadth that he will get capped this SR season. Hopefully, he'll get a contract at another franchise - without or with a shorter queue of midfielders/wingers - next year.
Finally got to lace up the boots again after two long months on the sideline 🤕 #gettingold

I'm sure @Higgins as an Axeman (as well as a Texan) will approve of this

Tamatea have been deducted five points for playing Hika Elliot in their loss to Napier OB Marist last week.
Tamatea did not have an international clearance from Hika's French club, he wasn't a registered Tamatea player, and the club was told prior to the game by HBRU they couldn't play him.
So Tamatea played him anyway.
It's been a long time since Tamatea have been a threat in the Maddison Trophy. Last time they made the top four playoffs was 2005, but off-field decisions like this are just dumb.

Watched Havelock North v Tech OB. Havelock won 10-8, each side scoring just one try.
JJ Taulagi received a yellow card in the first half. He has a quick temper and bit of pushing and shoving with a Havelock player after the ball had gone saw him get the card. Is easily riled.
Magpies prop Mark Braidwood looked like he went off injured.
Tech had three chances to win in the last five minutes. Got a penalty which Taulagi kicked for touch in the corner, and it went into in-goal for a Havelock drop out.
Got a second penalty and kicked for touch close to the corner. Won the ball in the lineout but got held up on the line - ruled a maul and turnover.
From the scrum Havelock kicked it out, but still in their own 22. This time Havelock stole the ball on the Tech throw in.
