Blues v Chiefs

@donsteppa Yeah that's because Umaga has to bring on his Wellington mate for no reason. Our lineout goes perfectly fine with Parsons out there. Our team is a mess, time to go Umaga. This team is going nowhere as usual.

I sometimes wonder how much sport some guys here have actually played or coached and understand how difficult it is to break losing streaks and how much experience in winning leadership counts when things aren't going your way.
It is easier to find ways to win when you know where to look for them.Watch that early spell in the second half and watch Messam. He stepped up big in both play and leadership for a burst and made a big difference.
Pulu is captain because he has the respect of the players but he is still to establish onfield mana. He has no one backing him up though.

Ha fuck the Blues are hard to watch. If they can't win that game they won't beat another NZ team this year.
Thought Nanai and Alaimalo both looked dangerous pretty much every time the touched it. The wayward offload from Nanai aside.
Rieko and Akira looked pretty good as usual.
Not many other good performances other than those. Duffie had a shocker, Dmac was bad dmac, pulu's fucking around at the base of the ruck cost them and the whole Blues forward pack deserve a slap for firstly trying to maul it over from 22m out with less than a minute left then fucking up the lineout.Worst of all for me would be Moala. His hungus cost the Blues so many chances. The Blues are going nowhere with him in midfield. Passing seems to be about 10th on his list of options when he gets the ball.

It's a TWO YEAR losing streak that may well go into a third.
How many excuses can you make for a professional coach with a full coaching team at his disposal?

That’s just utterly embarrassing for both teams. Hopeless.
Fuck off. That was a really enjoyable game to watch. Both teams in it right to the final whistle. The pace and ferocity took its toll in the last 20 as players flagged and made errors. Neither team had a great bench (or starters in some cases) due to injuries and that added to the drama.
I saw some great attacking moments, some exciting play, tension, forced errors, unforced errors....
Worth getting up early for.
Though both teams deserved to win and both teams deserved to lose.Settle petal. Two shittest NZ teams had a purse fight and one came on top. It’s ok. I’m happy for that.
We will win other games too but won’t be truly contesting the pointy end. We may make top 8 for the turning up fee but that’s about it
You may as well stop watching then. I watch rugby because I enjoy the game. A good club match may have poor standards but still be enjoyable to watch.
Watching round 3 (2) and getting grumpy because your injury ravaged team isn't looking like a world beater is defeatist. -
Blues pack are a bunch of dumb cnuts, with chief dumb cnut Ioane and anyone who thinks he is a decent complete 8 is president of the dumb cnut fan club.

So what's your solution? Endlessly yelling 'sack the coach'? Is that going to find you some leaders? A quality 10?
I admit that T has overall coaching responsibility but he doesn't coach the set piece weaknesses.
All I'm saying is that replacing the coach is not going to fix things. You've been trying that over and over and getting the same results.
T must be massively frustrated as the one thing he can't coach is players losing those crucial moments that change games. I bet Apisai throws straight all practice but couldnt do it when he needed to.
Final result was a loss but hardly an embarrassing walkover. The Blues problems go way deeper than the coach. -
@tim Exactly but hey come on now, us Blues fans need to accept that it's hard breaking losing streaks and that we should be proud of our team no matter what and who knows, we might break our drought by 2040 if we stick at it.
You did us fans proud tonight Blues fans. Keep it up boys!

@crucial A good coach makes a huge difference. There are many examples of coaches quickly turning around teams. Umaga is in his third year of his own setup, with high end facilities and his choice of supporting coaches.
Coventry looks to be a more capable coach. They should nab him while they can. He's brought structure and smart play to Harbour - a team that didn't have much going for it. He was excellent with the Chiefs.

I enjoyed that game, lot of running rugby, some big hits, lots of errors, but that's to be expected with these two teams and the pace of the game. Always fun to read a thread when you haven't been contributing to it when all angry and emotional during the game.
Alaimalo is awesome, I'd almost be happy for the ABs to ditch the two fullbacks to play him and Rieko together.

Cane was huge (again) with the inexperience in the pack at the end. The much-maligned Allardice played well too.
Has Allardice been much-maligned? He's always been a good performer in the Magpies and I can't remember Chiefs fans maligning him.
