Black Caps vs Windies Series

Nurse walked away very late there. Off stump put of the ground again, this kid has serious pace.

Trent fucked em

I can see why they're rotating players in and out of the squad. The Windies just ain't putting up a fight on this tour.

Such a great opportunity to pad averages though!!

Santner should be really worried..
Santner's ODI numbers are really good, so he's probably safe, but great to see Astle go well this series. He's a very handy player.
I agree. I'm a huge fan of Santner in ODIs. I'm just not a fan of him batting 6 in tests.

I sorta get the feeling he's gonna keep dividing opinions on the fern for a season or two at least.

Wonder if Gayle’s ‘illness’ suddenly appeared the minute he realised he flew all this way to be part of the lamest worse Windies side ever?
Their other stars obviously don't want a part of proceedings either. They have some sensational short form players who just don't give a fuck compared to being mercenaries for other teams. Very sad for the world game.
In fairness to them, the West Indies board is generally incompetent and divided by factional and national divisions, not to mention contractual disputes so I'm not sure that the players take all the blame on that one.

A great cricketing read about that LBW and Mike Whitney... (If Stuff links would load... check out “the Boxing Day Test that stopped two cricketing nations” over there)

@Donsteppa not sure what's happening with embedding.
Can at least post the link to the mobile version (eventually).
Enjoyed that. And am still pissed off at the inequity of Whitney's fame and fortune when he should have been back in the pavillion.
And fuck you Dyer you knew.

That game is very memorable for me as I was on a cook strait ferry and a lad from a travelling school group fell overboard. Airforce Orions and any boats in the area were called to help and the ferry circled and circled for 6 hours looking for the poor bugger who was never found.
Long ferry crossing and that cricket match was being played on a fuzzy tv while this tragedy ran it's course.
Name drop warning:
I played in a sixes tournament in Shanghai about 7 years ago and Danny and Whitney were there. After a day's play we were ploughing through a couple of bottles of vodka and Whit insisted on finishing the grog with us (he's a bloody good bloke).
Of course we talked about the match and on the lbw Whit mentioned "actually my 10 year old son Fergus watched a video of that game a short while ago and and remarked 'Dad why was that not out? It was plumb.' I replied, yes son it was, we got lucky that day - I can't lie to my boy"Not that everyone in the world (including dodgy Dick French) didn't know it was plumb but it was nice to hear a player reminisce and a reminder that the players in that era loved a drink and a yarn
And his stories about Tania on who dares wins were captivating - googling tania zaetta will give an insight about the captivation...

Good to see some of the lesser lights - Nicholls, Astle, Worker and Ferguson - taking advantage.
That was an excellent partnership between Astle and Nicholls - Nicholls in particular.
