    @booboo

Hockley was commentating at that time. Maia Lewis definitely has the more distinctive Kiwi accent. Having some female commentators is obviously a new initiative by Sky and NZC.

Personally, I am not a fan of Richardson. He tries to be funny when he isn't, unless he is being mocked by one of the other comms.

Who is the female commentator? Her accent is grating

Nice Sunday of test cricket, and there is 8 people in attendance. Not hard to see why NZC doesn't book tests. What a joke Hamilton.

Still not as bad as Mark Richardson's accent. I mute the TV whenever he comes on.

Rigor genuinely used to be ok but hosting lots of crap tv shows obviously destroyed any personality he had.

As for the attendance what's up Hamilton? Is there free check ups at the STD clinic and are you all there instead?

I like Richardson, but then again I am not exposed to all those shows he hosts.

    129-5.

I think the lack of action in this thread indicates how much of a drawcard the West Indies aren't.

Yeah, it's a shame but that is the reality. Some reasonable players but not enough to he competitive at test level.

Pleasing that we are getting the job done in comprehensive fashion though. We have a bloody good side now, we'll never have a team full of stars but we've got enough quality to compete with anyone, particularly at home. Which makes such a lack of tests a bit hard to stomach.

Any chance BJ can play as a batsman?

@gunner yes, exactly. The easiest test selection ever. The Nicholls kid's potential (though I have my doubts by now) versus BJ's batting record - definition of a no brainer

Or maybe in there instead of Santner who is a bowling all rounder who hasn't bowled and has hardly set the world on fire with the bat.

Nicholls actually has an ok record overall.

@siam Interestingly, if you compare BJ's batting record with Nicholls' - since Nicholls started (i.e.against the same opposition) - they're pretty similar.

I'd stick with Nicholls, since we're going to need a replacement for Rossco in the not too distant future, and I quite like that he has made scores against South Africa and Australia. He's not stellar, but he can bat.

I agree. He's not amazing but he's certainly far from terrible. 10 years ago his place would have been assured but as we're pretty strong overall it's not which I guess is a good thing.

Taylor retiring will leave an absolutely massive hole though. I hope it's still a long time coming.

I agree. Nicholls technique is not perfect, but I like him because he's shown he has what it takes mentally, which is something you can't really teach. As he develops he will (hopefully) iron out any technical deficiencies. I'm pretty hopeful he can end up averaging 40+ which is very good by our standards.

I would be much happier with BJ coming out at 6 than Santner, but we've discussed that already and haven't really come up with any satisfactory answers on that - if he's not in the side then we need someone better than CdG or our bowling options will be severely limited.

    Well that didnt take long.
Boult picks up 2 wickets (both bowled) in 2 balls in his 2nd over and now change of innings.

    Black caps 152 ahead

You know the team is doing well when Wagner has the worst figures.
