The Ashes

even Steve Smith was bored, so he got himself out. Worst series i can remember. Shit, benign pitches offering nothing to the bowlers, or the batsmen really, and one team completely out-classed.
terrible summer so far

On both sides of the Ta$man pal. At least some of the poms actually look interested. None of the Windies do.

I agree. Not great cricket to watch. Suggested this to an Aussie I know, and he went off that this has been farking awesome, and he's loving it.
I shook my head and gave up. Life is too short.

England actually having a good morning. 5 wickets, and the Aussies have pretty much fucked this up.
-
Done. 327. Good comeback by England. Pitch is flat, but two paced, so the Aus quicks will be a bit of a handful. England have had a good day so far.
-
Oh fuck nearly forgot: Anderson just bowled a bouncer at Hazelwood.
Can I get some tut-tutting and harumphing from the peanut gallery on here? No?
My issue when I brought it up was going around the wicket to bowl short at the number 11s body, from ball 1.
Which was Starc (left armer) to Anderson (LHB).
That was my line crossed.
A right armer bowling over the wicket at a number 11 LHB (which both Anderson and Hazlwood are) didn't cross my line. As there is a possibility when the bowler is bowling an orthodox line that the bowler may be trying a method, other than intimidating bowling, to get the bunny out. Which the umpire therefore has to consider.

Career saving hundred for Cook, his 32nd!, and it's England's best day of the series 192/2.

Cook and Root making runs at the same time certainly makes a massive difference

Well played Cook. Aussie bowlers, with Cummins apparently suffering a stomach bug, won't be able to dial this one in.
England got some wickets with fairly shit deliveries because the Aussie batsmen thought they could dial it in, and we paid the price. Smith in particular had a shit day: chopped on, dropped Cook, then bowled him to a ton. Not sure WTF he was thinking.
Missing Starc's left-arm option and while the ball was starting to shape a bit later on, Lehmann will be hoping Cummins has a dozen Hydralites and a good sleep to get back to his best.

Missing Starc full stop, I think. Even if he hasn't been completely on song this series, he's still probably the best fast bowler in the world. Compounded by Cummins being sick - but, for about the first time the English haven't looked like getting out at any moment.
What I'm inclined to think, as well, is that Starc is generally too good for tail-enders to play, so maybe the England tail might not get dynamited this time.
Hope not - would be nice to see this test competitive.
-
@chris-b Brett Geeves sort of had it right this morning. No Starc, a sick Cummins, and a slow wicket, and suddenly the Poms don't feel they are just trying to survive, and lo Cook's feet come back. Everything sort of played in to England's hands.

okay, so this series is neck and neck compared to what happened between South Africa and Zimbabwe.

That was nothing but an absolute arse raping.

@mariner4life hindsight. What did he say before the day?
Geeves is good though
