@dejo I know I have raised this on another thread but am 50/50 on buying via Stubhub or Viagogo or rocking up to the stadium early on the day.
Need 2 tickets.
My folks are in tokyo, they say there are tickets going around. For a price.....

Well, I'm in this gaddamn big concrete monstrosity of a stadium.
Thanks for the hookup to that completely legit and sanctioned ticket resale, @canefan
Approach to the stadium was buzzing.
Eddie was right, all of Japan definitely has ABs as their second team. -

Bought fake tickets on viagogo. Fun times. Ended up with legit tix but not seating together

Have been staying in Yokohama but now looking to move to Tokyo proper.
Seems like Yamonote Line does all things to all men Shinjuku/Shibuja/Tokyo/Shingawa (change for stadium).
Any tips for this?

@pakman sorry what is the question?
Boils down to:
-
Can one use Yamonote line to get to most things, including rugby? and
-
If so, any tips, such as buy an electronic card, etc.?

Buy a pasmo or suica card if you don't have a JR rail pass. If you do have a JR pass, JR rail lines will get you most places if using a JR pass

And re: Yamonote line... yeah, it is a pretty useful one. It's effectively Tokyo's version of London's "Circle Line".
With it hitting the main Tokyo station, and Ueno, Shinjuku, and Shinagawa... if you were only in Tokyo for a few days, you could easily never use anything but this.
And like @canefan said - if you've got a JR RailPass, or one of the variants - it should be all free to use. If not - grab an IC card, or just buy tickets as/when needed. IC card makes it all pretty quick/easy but. -

I was gutted that I didn't get any tickets in the initial ballots (and couldn't bring myself to pay for a tour) so made an executive decision a few months back not to go.
In hindsight I am quite glad.

Is anyone from the fern interested in gathering somewhere in Tokyo to commiserate and watch the final on Saturday? Or can even recommend a decent spot to watch the game? I was planning on going to the ground and seeing if any tickets were floating around for face value but not sure if I’ll do this. Feels kind of painful but also it is the rugby World Cup final and I did extend my work trip by one day to be in town for it...50/50 right now.
-
Went down to Shin-Yokohama station to try my luck. First group of kiwis I asked at the station sold me a cat B ticket at face value. Kind of fun to not have winning stress while watching a knockout game.
-
Story which seems funny, now. Have met up with various bods in Tokyo. Had tickets to semis and final, but after loss a Brit I know invited me to third place game. Duly followed him on subway, and when we got at 5.20 to Shin-Yokohama he pulled out tickets for....
...Toyota Stadium! Mad rush across Tokyo on bullet train, and two tubes and arrived for second half. Glad I made effort, but missed most of good bits.

@pakman we did the same sort of thing, went to Yokohama stadium not realizing that meant the baseball stadium. We lost at least an hour of drinking time!
We made up for that pretty quickly. Izekawa meal in Shimbashi. Yum.
-
@canefan I almost did that for the semi. Just before jumping on the train I thought the completely circular stadium outline on google maps looked a bit weird so zoomed in to see it was the baseball ground! I needed the extra time to buy real tickets after getting fakes on viagogo so glad I didn’t end up there.
