NBL: Breakers and stuff
-
@ACT-Crusader 😅 fairy nuff mate, let's celebrate 🥳🥳🥳
-
Tall Blacks that were missing that I’d have in my squad - Adams, Webster’s x2, Salt, Fotu, Finn, Abercrombie
-
Awesome win from the Snakes. Shut down Cotton who had a huge night on Friday.
Oliver has been an animal on the glass in the two games.

Fuck what a performance! The first qtr was as good an atmosphere as any sport event I have been to.
We should have won Friday (beaten by one of the best individual NBL games I have seen) and now I reckon we are favourites Thursday
Oliver has been massive. We won today without Machado having a big one.

Holy shit, and Melbourne break all sorts of records in absolutely destroying Sydney in game 2
It's very conceivable that it's 3rd v 4th in the finals.
-
Carn the Taipans!
Both game 3s tonight, first Sydney trying to turn around a record thumping in game 2. Then Cairns trying to go to Perth and win game 3.
I'm bullish about our chances to be honest, we've done nearly everything right in the first 2 games.
It's been a great season for the Club.
-
@mariner4life hope you beat Perth just to see Gleeson lose his shit

Jarrad Weeks has re-signed for the Breakers for the 2020-21 National Basketball League season. He joins Tom Abercrombie, Corey Webster, Finn Delany and Rob Loe as the fifth confirmed rostered player for NBL21.
In other Breakers news:
-
Sydney beat Melbourne. Everything i have read, and i mean everything, is that the refs absolutely dudded them.
And the Taipans season ends with a 9-point loss. Perth were the better side from about the 3rd minute i reckon. White finally turned up, Kay was huge, Steindl hit his shots, and they just found enough guys to keep us at arms length.
We were shot, repeatedly in that 2nd half, but kept coming back, and when we had it back to a 5-pointer, we couldn't land the bucket to blow the game open, but Perth could.
DJ Newbill picked last night to have his worst game in a Taipans shirt. Oliver and Machado were both big, but not at the same time.
Great season, one i have really enjoyed. If we could keep this group together, we would be close to favourites next year. Unfortunately, that never happens up here, we'll get raided. And my heart will break.
-
@mariner4life very disappointed by DJ’s game. He wasn’t playing well and then decided it was “his time” and the close. And he hit nothing. Should’ve kept going to Oliver who Perth had no answer to.

@Bovidae he's managed by Jermaine Jackson?
I wonder how much an NBL franchise costs?
40 bucks

and a ham sandwhich. I see his manager is former NBA player Jermain Jackson, not the former Jackson 5 member

I don't think we have a NZNBL thread do we?
Anyway, I am quite impressed with the quick thinking and action by NZBB here. Will they be proven right that product will be a big enough driver when quality may be down?
By setting up new teams and a new comp punters get a chance to join in to something fresh without previous.
I like the ambition. -
*However, the new league has not found favour with everyone, with all five Breakers bypassing it, and long-serving Tall Black Corey Webster expressing his criticism on social media on Tuesday.
"Awesome for NZ basketball, taking the talent worldwide ... but none of the talent is playing," Webster said via Twitter.
Webster's former club, the Wellington Saints, along with the Southland Sharks and Hawke's Bay Hawks declined to take part in the competition.
He followed that up by saying: "There’s a reason the three best teams in the league aren’t playing, the same reason all the best players aren’t playing. And the person running the league should probably take that in to consideration."*
So what is that reason?
