On the back of the Kiwi defections to the Tongan RL team, there was a story on TV3 a few days ago about a few players choosing to play for the Samoan 7s team ahead of one of the NZ teams. Mua was interviewed and gave his reasons why (for his grandmother who is moving back to Samoa). I don't see this as a bad thing as a lot of the players would be eligible for 2 teams, and it doesn't lock you into playing for that country.

Boys Championship Final: NZ Fijians 17 v 27 NZ CondorsI really like this tournament. I've seen some great games with some exciting talent, both girls and boys. Some of the players have already played NPC and/or provincial 7s, but it will be interesting to see who will eventually make it into the All Blacks 7s, Black Ferns 7s, other national squads and/or higher up in XVs.

I watched a game or two but obviously missed those that have played NPC or maybe they weren't playing in the couple of games I took in. Can you let us know who they were so I can go back and watch to see how they did on MySky thanks?

Australia girls should have won the final. Up by 4 points with possession when the whistle blows. Get cocky and try to break the line to score again, instead of kicking it out. Then when tackled, put in a bad kick that does not reach the sideline and chaser from Australia shoves NZ girl in the back. Penalty to NZ, and several phases later score a 5 pointer to win

The change will take effect after January’s Bayleys National Sevens in Rotorua, with the tournament then moving to Tauranga for the following three years starting in December 2018 where Tauranga Domain will play host to all the on-field action. The move is hoped to see the best provincial talent available to compete and aligns the tournament with the high performance programmes of both the All Blacks Sevens and Black Ferns Sevens. ... “Bringing the Nationals Sevens forward to December means that Unions will be able to call on players from their Mitre 10 Cup, Mitre 10 Heartland Championship and Farah Palmer Cup campaigns to be involved which will improve the standard of competition. “It also provides a platform for selection to the All Blacks Sevens and Black Ferns Sevens for the following World Series.”

@tim Unprofessional from NZR. They clearly don't have adquate quality assurance procedures for decisions like these, if one person - who clearly doesn't know the rules - is able to take such decisions without proper involvement or oversight of people who do know them (assuming that NZR has its own legal advisers). Maybe the organisation is too compartmentalised?
Has Eliota Sapolu already accused NZR of racism?

@stargazer which time?
