@canefan yeah I ssw that the other day. He ruined the NBA.
One could say that the cap changes ruined the NBA....
It opened the door to allow the Warriors to make a bid for KD and also more broadly to allow some ridiculous contracts to players not worth anything near what they are paid.
-
@act-crusader I was just repeating instagram comment.
KD made a bitch move but ultimately the type of money that in under the cap is so emmense now all we are going to see if super teams.

Lebron confirmed to the Lakers.
Western Conference is going to be ridiculous next season.

@bovidae PG is committed to the Thunder for the next two years at least.
As canefan pointed out, the two biggest free agents left are Leonard and Boogie.
Kawhi seems intent on going to LA, but the Spurs have them over a barrel if they want to trade now. Ingram, Kuzma AND Ball could all go as a part of that trade.
It's actually hard to think of a team in the West who won't be half decent next season. The Kings will always be the Kings, but the Mavs are building nicely, the Grizzlies will be much better, the Nuggets have locked in Jokic.
They could have 10 of the top 12/13 teams in the league.

I think it's the other way around. The Spurs were hoping that LA needed Kawhi to enable them to get LBJ. Kawhi is digging in and scaring off any other suitors. Ingram, Kuzma, and two unprotected picks will get this done

Yeah these wheels have been in motion for a while now.
Plenty of cap space for Lakers. They will lure some other big name and pay luxury tax no problem.
Fear not East, Blake Griffin is going to lead the Pistons to glory 😀

Lance Stephenson has also signed with the Lakers.
I want next season to start now.
Early season practice will be fun
Lebron is the farking puppetmaster

The Americans know how to do sports.
NFL is a goddam perfect 16-game season plus finals.
The NBA may have a 200-game season, but it's flashy, it's absolutely driven by the stars, and manages to pack in a decent soap opera's worth of drama.
The team i support may be being left behind, but i am still loving this arms race era we are in, where everyone is trying to catch GS.

@mariner4life I reckon he stays and he racks up the assists, because with that firepower the last thing the Lakers need is a shoot first PG
-
Lakers continue to make waves. They waive rights to Julius Randle to avoid getting locked into a multi year situation. They've signed Rajan Rondo to a one year deal along with Stevenson and McGee. That takes the pressure off Lonzo Ball and I guess Isiah Thomas might be looking for a new team soon. I don't think they are done yet, but it looks like they are building for this season and waiting to pick up Kawhi on the cheap next year when he becomes a free agent, so they dont have to surrender the future (Kuzma, Ingram) to get him. Nice
-
It's so strange. They are rushing to get their hands on mediocre players and I have no idea why.
Hard to see the Lakers competing this year with Lebron surrounded by Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, Stephenson, Rondo.
Seems they are keeping their powder dry for next season when they can get Kawhi, Davis, Towns, Klay etc
