Yeah the Jeet in the team that isn't an overrated shit heap ( Hearing Jerry Coney on the Radio trying to say they've 'given the ball to Patel to try and get some turn' with a straight face was hilarious ) has been remarkable in his consistency. No peaks or troughs yet.

    @Gunner

I'm probably about to jinx Tommy by saying this but man it was good to see a black cap opener in a form slump figuring out where he had an issue and grift through an innings to get his touch back. Watching him leave anything outside off was such a joy and makes me feel like we've got someone who has the ability to be an all time great black cap opener.

Nah, Tom's shithouse, I reckon he won't even make it to tea 😉

Kick off will in 5 minutes at midday after delay for a wet outfield.

Fingers crossed for more of the same from these two.

Latham goes for an even 50.

    83/1

Kane missed out last test, lets hope he continues on where Tom left off here.

Latham survives first over and goes on to bring up his 50 before getting out, and @Cyclops narrowly avoids a ban.

These two have set a platform now. Would be great if Jeet can go on with it - as mentioned above he's been consistent with his starts but hasn't kicked on - but TBH I'm pretty happy with that, as by NZ standards that's quite a lot more then we've had from our openers in quite some time.

@No-Quarter I think pretty much the same.

It would be nice if he turned some of these starts into 100's, but as long as he keeps averaging 45, I couldn't care less if he never got a test 100.

It's early days, but 45 is an outstanding average for a NZ opener (I'm much more accustomed to 30 odd).

At risk of being banned and publicly flogged - she's not very often our top 3 all get 50's....

Little Kane only 5 runs away from making it happen.

    159/1

@Tim So they were still celebrating a victory in late Wales over the All Blacks the one and only time an opener of ours scored a 100 against SA..

Raval owns two of our top ten scores now. Impressive and depressing at the same time

KW cracks 5000 test runs at 50.53.

Guess that's an ok enough effort.

Does anyone have the ability to look this stat up?

I'd be interested as to how often this has actually happened.

What the hell is going on out there?

"Philander is now rolling the ball back, as a form of protest, from the deep"

Did we accuse them of something? Trying to read back cricinfo and it just looked like it was a general discussion amongst the fans etc. Obviously not!
