    Fantastic catch by de Kock.

This Broom guy is in hot form (last five international innings: 8, 2, 2, 0, 0). Can definitely see why he got called into the test team to bat at four.

It's okay, SA were the same spot in the first test. Raval and Nichols now need to put on a couple of hundred....

Lucky we have a great number 5 to come in and steady the ship.

Oh hang on, it's Nicholls. We're fucked, really fucked!

She'll be a 3 day test this one.

@Gunner no it won't. Boult isn't playing, so the saffas will bat for a day and half at least. Wait, that still leaves us a day and a half to bat twice. shit.

Not often you see a bowler not want to refer LBW and the captain over-rides!

Everyone on here was saying he should be called up after how he did against Bangladesh and in one innings against Australia. Let's be honest. Neil Broom may have hit a purple pitch at the end of his career. He may have been the best option for us and in an alternate universe he might have been relatively decent. However, a 35 year old who has already tried and failed at international level isn't going to suddenly start scoring a lot of runs against perhaps the world's best attack. When old guys are selected and do well it, it is generally because like Voges or Hussey they were just kept out of the team by better players,

Shit, I go out for an hour and we lose 3 wickets. We could have written Latham's mode of dismissal before he took guard.

Although I desperately wanted Broom to succeed I'm not surprised he's gone early. Time for Nicholls to stand up (hoping I'm not putting the mockers on him).

Raval has a mini counter attack going here. Scoring a few boundaries and has this partnership going along at nearly 6 an over, which has got to be taking a bit of pressure off Nicholls.

And Shark. Let's not underplay the role of TSF poster Shark in ruining NZs only good test opener for a decade.

I have no doubt we will lose this test by a big margin inside a short amount of days but all you can ask in a situation like this against the best pace bowling attack in the world is that our journeymen show a bit of fight and these two have been giving us some of this in the last half hour so well done.

    Gah. Latham 8, Kane 2, Broom 0.

Again a fucking awful start. These guys need to take a long hard look at themselves (even Kane, he a magnificent player, but has been a bit shit lately) and get their act together. Latham seems to have lost the plot entirely, and Broom never really had the plot, he may have bamboozled selectors with a few good performances against Bangladesh, but the reality is he's 35 and he's the best he's ever going to be.

The last thing the Black Caps need is more dead wood at the top of the order. We are never going to win a match if 3/4 of the top 5/6 are scoring less than 10. At least Jeet R (no jinx) is putting up some fight. Nicholls MUST stay with him for the day. Otherwise he is surely in line to be dropped.

Williamson got 130 in his last innings against this very attack !!!!!

Jesus Christ Woman, do you expect Don Bradman or something?
