2017 Black Ferns (including World Cup)

It's just a complicated reorganization of contracts I think rather than a downgrade. They have just started a new women's league with teams from the likes of Harlequins.
The women's game over here is quite strong. I know a guy coaching locally and the players see a clear pathway from local club to bigger club to national sides -

Any seats left on the bandwagon?
No but there's some vacant seats at the Wallabies breakfast if that interests you
Nah, I've heard humble pie tastes awful.

Good article about the situation in England's women's rugby after the World Cup:
England to switch focus back to 7s

I had a meeting with a couple of the players from the Ireland Women's team last year about non-rugby stuff. We got to chatting about the game and there was a definite sense that IRFU policy was focusing more on 7s and less investment in the XVs game for them. That's where the powers-that-be see real growth for the women's game in Ireland. And it's evident in the results this WRWC with us falling back from SF last time to not qualifying for the next tourney this time. Not a great look for the host country never mind development of the game here.

Just watched the highlights of the final. Some ripper tries scored on the wing. That English chick Thompson, fucking hell she has wheels.
Thrilled to bits that the Black Ferns conquered, they have acquitted themselves beautifully throughout. More than shocked to read that England are suddenly pulling back on investment in Women's XV though, when they've been doing so brilliantly. Rugby unions need to be putting more in, not less. More investment, more resources, skills increase, spectacle increases, more viewers, more return, more women and girls not only want to play, but want to watch. Happy cycle.

It was the Black Ferns slick back play that got them to the Final. Whoever the hell thought they would win it off the back of some gritty forward exchanges and top drawer D? Never doubted it for a second.....
I reckon we laid a trap in June and England fell right into it....
Bloody Black Gold - good onya Black Ferns, you bloody deserve it. World Champions! -
Awesome stuff! The ladies reaction at the end made me all misty eyed.
-
@Samurai-Jack Yeah, you'd be a heartless prick not enjoying what that meant to them
Cup's a bit underwhelming though

Perfect end to captain Fiao'o Fa'amausili's international rugby career. At almost 37 years old, she has now played for 5 World Cups (she first became a Black Fern in 2002), has won 4 of them, and has just set a new Black Ferns test cap record of 52 matches. She has played almost 100 NPC games for Auckland. She was World Women's Player of the Year in 2016. Great leader of her team!

At least she will be able to pilot a helicopter now.

Indeed. Very short sighted.
Plenty of UK mums not wanting / letting their sons play rugby - my sister -in-law - so will not only impact the Women's game.

Am I allowed to say the England 15 is a little bit hot?
I was thinking the same.
I could only watch the last 20 mins live so wasn't able to view the full match until this evening. Firstly, well done ladies.
As mentioned previously the YC decisions were marginal, especially Ketu's - she did what every no.7 does. In the end it didn't matter and luckily NZ scored enough tries that Cocksedge's poor goalkicking didn't matter.
To put the win into context, Fa’amausili played in her 50th test in the final while England brought on a prop with 120+ caps. That demonstrates how little the Black Ferns play compared to their NH opponents.
Anyway, winners are grinners.

As good as the Black Ferns are, why are people trying to compare salaries and the like with the ABs?
