Black Caps v South Africa
-
127/6 after 34 overs.
Positives....um, we made it over NZ's lowest total batting first at Eden Park?
This is rough as guts though. You can't have Guptill, Williamson, Taylor and Ronchi all failing on the same day and expect a decent total. And Brownlie and Neesham's 24 each aren't good enough either.
Fuck. Santner out for 24 also.
132/7 after 35.

Really no one does crash and burn like the Black Craps ... well except the Warriors...
-
Southee to bat through the remaining overs, score a vital 60 or 70 then bowl SA out for 120...

@Virgil it could happen...
colour me shocked he crashed and burned..

@Virgil TBF, when those above him have failed, cant expect much more....
Agreed, except that was a horrible shot to that ball. I don't mind him having a lash, but he needs to play the correct shots to the ball he gets.
-
@taniwharugby Nope. As a so-called senior player, this should be the time he doesn't play like a fuckface. The overs are there. He had time to bat himself in a bit. Especially after Santner being a dick and running himself out.
This is so embarrassing. Will be a total slotting into that graph of lowest batting first. Meh.

.....I compound the above by also being a big Scottish rugby fan.
Ronchi got a score two runs below his average in the last 35 ODIs. That's enough to keep him in for another couple of years.
-
Proteas could've been 2 down with an ounce of luck.
Wouldn't lose faith until the Proteas start scoring comfortably. Didn't do so in the first 6 overs.
-
Pretty dismal effort. Lots of self destruction and foolishness.
I'm a bit mystified by our batting order. Given the players who were picked, surely it should be:
- Neesham
- de Grandhomme
- Ronchi
- Santner
Unless they just really wanted to make sure Ronchi got some time in the middle. It's stretching things to give him a specialist batsman's slot (less so for Neesham) - so really we played 4 batsmen and 4 allrounders.
Hasn't answered many questions about our Champions Trophy line-up - at least not many positive answers. It's not good when guys move up the pecking order because they didn't play.
-
@Chris-B. Ronchi once again showed why he shouldn't even be in this team.
Hes inadequate at this level.
We'd do better with Watling in there, he doesn't need to accumulate quickly, he needs to be there at the 50th over, letting de Grandhomme, Boult, Neesham, etc cut loose.
I'd add Southee to this list, but I don't think he actually deserves a spot anymore either, his bowling average isn't good enough, his strike-rate is poop, and hes not scoring runs either - hes irresponsible. I'd go so far as to suggest if McClenaghan and Milne were fit, he wouldn't even be playing.
I'd really like to see
Guptill
Worker
Williamson
Taylor
Broome
Neesham
Watling
De Grandhomme
Santner
Milne/McClenaghan
Boult -
3 down, that's good right?
Oh wait here comes ABdV...
