@sammyc WTF - I was never a huge fan of Mannering but he's been class in his later career as an absolute workhorse. If he was Aussie he'd be lauded as the best buy ever for the Warriors.
I'm ultra worried about things now after reading that article! What 'brand' of football are the Kiwis going to be playing?
On a side note, I'm playing league live 4 on the PS4 in career mode as the Warriors and I reckon Luke is on track to be the Dally M winner. Mannering never makes a Kiwis side (for some reason you can't pick a Kiwi squad you just get random players) but is always close to the top of tacklers. Review of game: Not as good as the previous version, but playable once you figure out that scooting from dummy half is the best way to make ground and then score in close.

Yeah I see the coaching staff/ selectors are Kidwell/ Nikau/ Iro and McGahan. Call me cynical but I don't see those guys coming up with a perfect new gameplan to fool the Aussies.

They'll probably come up with one to fool their own players though.
Mannering is the ideal guy considering we're losing a huge amount of leadership by ruling out Bromwich.

Are these fluffy bunnies serious?
Can just imagine the selection meeting...
'Mannering, na he's bad for team morale. He makes too many tackles, too organised on defence and waaay too much ticker. All that does is make the rest of the playing group look bad. I don't think we can risk taking him'
-
They must be studying the Patrick Ewing theory....remove your best player to make the team better.
Dumb, dumb, dumb move if they are even considering it.

I've been suggesting the Warriors, the actual Warriors, follow this gameplan for years....

30- 0 in a prelim final
-
Only watched the last 25 minutes. Pretty rubbish game, other than all the late hits on Cronk.....
-
I'm on holiday at a place with Fox Sports so decided to watch a bit of this. NRL has become even more of a drudge than I remember.
Funniest bit was the doctor looking at Slater's high shot on Marshall with great care, but thirty other tackles around the neck and head throughout the game going unpunished.
NRL is going to have some legal action to deal with down the track

Cowboys do the dirty over the Roosters 29-16 and make it to the Grand Final. Hard to believe they did it without their two captains Jonathan Thurston and Matt Scott.
NRL will be stoked: Melbourne Vs North Queensland in Sydney.
Michael Morgan and Te Maire Martin are making an awesome halves pairing that I'm now thinking that JT sticking around for one more season might be a bad thing in the long run.
-
I wonder how many times SFS has ever been at capacity since the Homebush Olympic stadium was built.
Is it amazing that Roosters only get 29k to basically a home semifinal? Or not.
I reckon I've barely seen that ground above half full for 17 years now.
When I have seen it full in that time is for some Waratahs games in the good years, occasionally some of the big Sydney FC A League matches .
-
Big week for me ,
Both my Aussie teams in grand finals , storm and tigers (afl) ,
happy days .
-
Kieran Foran won't be playing in the RLWC. Looks like the Kiwis will go with Shaun Johnson, Te Maire Martin, Kodi Nikorima, Thomas Leuluai as their halves/hooker options. Maybe Danny Levi or Isaac Luke in the hooker role too.

So I went to the Footy Show on Thursday night, a mate had a couple of free tickets and it was being filmed about 100m from my place. I haven't actually seen the show in 2 years as I don't have Ch9 as it messes with the Foxtel feed.
Was a decent night, kind of entertaining and good to see the teams come out and a few players have a chat.
I really don't know who to cheer for in this match. First instinct is the Storm because of Tohu (Bay boy, same Marae etc) and all the other Kiwi players in the side. But then it's always good to go for the underdogs and Taumalolo is carving up - even if Gallen won the Dally M for lock (seriously WTF). But I thought, should go with the most Kiwi players so Storm, but then I watched a replay of the 2012 final and they're just so annoying, Smith and Slater get dirty but don't get called on it because the Oz league media worship them as gods.
Anyway, funniest thing about the footy show was the amount of boos Gallen received - Smith got quite a few as well. Taumalolo got the biggest cheers.
So no doubt I'll change who I'm supporting multiple times before kick off - but I'm going to be watching this year ... haven't watched all of them recently.
-
I'm backing the Cowboys just because they really shouldn't be there with all the key injuries they have had but I see the Storm winning 22-12 when all is said. Cooper Cronk wins the Churchill Medal and retires immediately afterwards.
-
I'm backing the Cowboys (I always elect for the underdog when my team isn't playing) but can't see the Storm losing. The funny part is for all their success, no one in Melbourne will care.
Given the ticket situation, it's apparent no one in Sydney does either.
-
@antipodean It's been a bit of a boring season because from game one it was clear that Melbourne was just better than the other teams.

Thats actually not true , they get bigger crowds and have more members than most of the sydney clubs ,
and get good Tv audiences in melbourne , alot of afl fans have adopted them as their second team much like a lot of union fans in Nz have done with the warriors,
but people like to believe thats the way it is
