Black Caps vs Bangles

I was just looking at CdG's record. It's obviously skewed by the 6-for, but, this innings aside, while he doesn't take wickets, he seems to be able to hold down an end, that's handy enough for the 4th seamer.
What he needs to do is start scoring runs. There isn't a place in the side for am economical 4th seamer who isn't also averaging 35+ with the bat.

@Virgil with wickets in hand I think you double the score after 35 overs these days.
Not looking forward to the batting powerplay!
They just need to keep wickets in hand so they can launch at the last 10 overs or so

@mariner4life CdG went for three 4s in his first over and has leaked runs in his 6 overs to date.
I did see he was listed to bat behind Santner too in the Sky team list.

Well that was shithouse. No one here really commenting on the poor captaining from Williamson. Couple of catches through vacant 3rd slip on the first morning. Choosing to bat on a wicket Craig Cumming said in his pitch report would play reasonably well.
Jeet Raval better score some runs in this test after that slip catch fiasco off Shakib.

Following on from the "best batsmen" bit below, did you see the India v England ODI last night? Run fest.
India scored 381 on the back of a couple of old-timers. Good old Yuvraj Singh whacked 150 off 127, and reliable old MS Dhoni 134 off 122, a 256-run partnership off 229 balls. In replay England made it to 366, with Eion Morgan scoring a hundred.
India were 25/3 as well. England may have thought the job was done with Kohli out early...

Cricinfo summary at lunch seems a little sympathetic to us, maybe they are bowling better than the text commentary shows.
They are saying the deck is flat though, why are we bowling?

Fuck me days. 5 hours between posts. Poor from everyone concerned. Internet outages, too busy or does no one care about this tour anymore?
Good old Timmy getting a Michelle ( just his sixth ever which surprised me ), sounds like there was some poor fielding all round and driving back home I listened to talkback and a few SJWs are having a whinge about some short pitched stuff to tailenders.
Fuck RIGHT off with that you fluffybunnies. That's cricket. In saying that the game is a bit unfair in that every now and again a terrible batsman ( usually number 11 ) HAS to bat where as a shit bowler never had to embarass himself.
-
I'll have a whinge about short pitch bowling to tail enders.
Why did we waste so much time bowling bouncers at tail enders when we should have been bowling at the top of off? They're tail enders for a reason and with Boult and Southee both getting movement I think we'd have been batting for an hour today.

To be fair a few folk were whinging about that on talkback too. KWs captaincy was under fire from these people all of whom were absolute cricketing experts with far more nous than the Black Caps captain. Personally I say rolling a reasonably good team for under 300 is a fine effort but what would I know?

@MN5 wait, They're a reasonably good team now? Try to keep your narrative straight mate
I never said they weren't.
Aw, actually I did.
Anyway, this test is in the bag no sweat

Raval goes and Little Kane follows him two balls later.
The bits I've watched of this test, it looks more demanding to be batting today compared with yesterday - if the Bangles were better fieldsmen we might be in deep schtumm by now - though our own fielding hasn't been up to much in this series - missing Guptill in that regard?
Bowling - we need to get Bondy back as coach. The Bangles look to have faster and possibly more penetrative bowlers. The leg side strangle and having Wagner stick it up them seem to be two of our main ploys.
Have to say in regard to the short pitched stuff that I've been surprised on occasions how much Wagner has been allowed to get away with in regard to short stuff - not necessarily in this test, which I've seen not much of. I don't mind a few bouncers but I've seen plenty of overs from him where I'd say he's bowled more than the allowable two in an over. The only NZ bowler I can recall bowling more would be Craig McMillan, for whom the bouncer seemed to be the stock ball.
Will be an interesting test for our lower middle order if we lose another wicket in the near future. For me, the Nicholls/CdGH axis is the weakest part of our line-up.
