Black Caps vs Bangles

Biggest first innings score to concede then go on to win.

That's an astounding win. We were owned for large portions of the game, and here we are with what looks a comfortable 7-wicket win.
Nicholls did something right!
That's some innings from Kane. Sad then that in a couple of years we will be discarding it in our "record against everybody who isn't Bangladesh and Zimbabwe" comparisons.
Who the fuck do you give MoTM to?
I wouldn't worry Bangladesh is on the improve and will be regarded as well as we and Sri lanka are in a few years time.
I woul

Tom Latham man of the match.. er ok

Yeah, that seems pretty dumb. Latham had a great knock but regardless of the outcome of the match, he was still only the second best batsman in the match. To me the top three contenders would've been Al Hasan for Bangladesh's first double hundred, Williamson for both his century and captaincy and Wagner for his 6 wickets.

Wow, what a great come from behind win. Excellent knock from Kane to seal it, after a decent bowling effort.
Don't agree with Latham as MOTM though. Double centurion from Bangladesh should have got it.
I dunno. Getting a duck when his team needed him puts a dampener on things a bit in my opinion.
-
Latham as man of the match makes sense to me. He was at the heart of our first innings that brought us level. If he gets a small hundred then the whole complexion of the match changes.
The thing that irks me about motm awards is that they can never decide between giving it to the single standout performer (which for me is Shakib) and the player that had the biggest impact on the match (Tommy but I think there are arguments for Shakib and Kane too)

It is Sunday, in the middle of January.... and fuck all have turned up to watch test match cricket at the Basin, the Basin needs to be shunted down the pecking order of test venues.
What a load of shit baron. Despite how they've done so far in this test the bangies are hardly a drawcard for big crowds and the nation's weather hasn't helped either. Your Bay area cricket grounds will never compete.
It is a test match, and there were probably couple of hundred in the ground.. on a Sunday... in mid January.
It is just pathetic.
But you are right about the weather, Wellington has shit weather.
Only two grounds have sold out a day of test cricket in the past 10 years in New Zealand, AFAIK. Hagley has done it twice - on Boxing Day a few years back and for McCullum. The Basin Reserve will always sell out at least one day when India, Australia or England come. Seddon Park, University Oval, McLean Park and Eden Park have not sold out a test in that time frame. I really would like to know where you think we should be playing tests.

Plus there's the history of the Basin that no other ground in NZ can come close to matching.

Back to the topic at hand. Anyone else think the manner in which they lost, injuries, lack of results, short turnaround and the fact they probably all have one foot on the plane mean that the Bangies are gonna get destroyed in this test?
I'm picking a massive win for the BCs weather permitting
-
You've said the same thing every game so far.

Yes and I've been right every time too.
Seriously, the bangies are gonna get beaten bad.
-
So that's 2 highly improbable test wins in a row after taking 9 Pakistan wickets in the last session last test.

@Virgil Unfortunately every time I have been on that band wagon it has a collapse and we are still going nowhere.
Fear not, @Snowy ! McCullum reinforced it when he was in charge and Williamson is providing preventative maintenance.
She's as secure as she's ever been!
-
@Snowy you must be thinking of the Auckland Warriors/Blues wagon

NZ won the game because we pretty much matched their first innings mammoth total through a daddy 100 by Latham. Putting the nervous novices in a position to wobble in a no-win third dig.
Therefore IMO Latham was our match winner, and the obvious choice for motm.
