All Whites

I thought it applied at age grade level as well? Didn't Rory Fallon or someone have to make a call to turn down an England youth team as it would commit him forever?
It used to.
FIFA used to be the poster boy for strict nationality qualifications. They relaxed it about a decade ago
Now it is only competitive senior internationals that bind a player to one country.
In 2014 Diego Costa made his debut for Brazil, in a friendly, then switched a few months later to Spain (on residency) and played for Spain in the 2014 world cup in Brazil.

Oh wow! That is interesting, so you can play a friendly and not be tied.

Big bump.
WELLINGTON, July 17 (Reuters) - New Zealand coach Danny Hay says his side will be able to test themselves against some of the best players in the world when they face FIFA's top-ranked team Belgium in a friendly in October. New Zealand Football (NZF) said on Friday the match in Brussels had been arranged for Oct. 8, though it still required approval from authorities. International football has been on hold since March due to COVID-19 but will ramp up in September with the UEFA Nations League. The match precedes Belgium's friendlies against England away on Oct. 11 and Iceland on Oct. 14.

LOL.
It's just amazing that people can be so dumb.
On topic, the worse thing about the AW colours and name is that stupid fundamentalist football kit-clash rules means that a team is playing in all white in about 1/3 of all international games.
It was a reasonably rare combo. Real Madrid, Leeds etc That's about it. Now it is every third team's alt kit or 3rd kit if their second kit has a clash of socks with another teams collar.
Despite that rant, I'd keep it.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. To the casual observer, the name All Whites would have to raise an eyebrow, minimum. Even to most of the football world to whom our roundball identity hangs by a thread, the name would have to conjure the occasional "what the fuck?"
Those in the rugby world will realise the connection. Whether they're aware of how the All Blacks moniker came about, or not, they'll be familiar with the brand and the uniform and will realise that 'All Whites' is simply piggy-backing off New Zealands' most recognisable sporting brand. They'll know there is no malice or underlying intent in the name, and that it (both) came about during an age when these things were analysed far less and people didn't have the heightened level of sensitivity and desperation to be outraged that they have today.
But today is today, and maybe it's appropriate to review a team name that really only piggy-backs on a far more renowned one, as Rapido says has an increasingly tenuous link to a formerly unique playing strip and might just be so borderline offensive it has to go.

Soccer NZ, yet again thinking of ways to become even more irrelevant to the majority of New Zealanders...
You reckon the majority of NZers will be against this change? Why?

"Get woke go broke" exists as a phrase for a reason and that will be my summary.

I don't understand that. Sounds pretty weak.
