The squad for the Barbarians consists of 12 uncapped players. Because this match is being played outside the international window, only South African based players could be selected.
However, the Boks have been dealt a number of injury blows with experienced players Francois Hougaard, Juan de Jongh, Francois Louw and Julian Redelinghuys, all of whom featured during the Castle Lager Rugby Championship, ruled out.
As a result, flankers Smit and Du Preez, Petersen (wing) and Venter (centre) will remain with the Springbok squad for the remainder of the Castle Lager Outgoing Tour, while the rest of the uncapped players return home after the opening match.

@Frye Strange comment. This isn't a team line-up; why would they name only 15 players? The All Blacks squad for the June tests also had over 30 players. It's a training squad that will go into camp from 30 October until 4 November to prepare for their tests. Their first test v Samoa isn't until 12 November (13 November NZT).

I think it had to do with the name XV de France. That's the name used by the French squad that play's XVs, as opposed to France 7, the name they use for the French team that plays sevens.
Nope. Tregaskis got it.

Couldn't find a Barbarians player announcement with Buckman in it, but he's definitely there training with them:
How many more are there that we don't know about???
Even if the whole AB squad goes down with salmonella poisoning, there are plenty of back-ups for Hansen to choose from.

Comparing those 2 sides suggests the Springboks could get smashed this weekend! Only advantage they have is that they have been training together for longer and that the Baabaas only assembled this week.
