@nzzp is that the Nine guys? Yea, so bad. Slater, Healy, Clarke, Warne and Nicholas are the absolute pits. Tubby too easily led.
Big Bash with Gilly, Flem, Ponting, and Waugh much better. And Andrew Symonds has been really good as well (his Geoffrey Boycott impression was excellent)

Yep, the current Chanel Nein (as NTA would say)
Radio commentary >> TV commentary in cricket.

I think it's really progressive that the Aussies selected a trans-gender for last night's game, "Adam" Zampa is a champion of diversity.
Oh, and Aus towelled up Pakistan, scoring 353 and winning by 86. Warner smacked a quick 130, and The Big Show creamed 78 off 44 with some inventive cricket shots.
Pakistan started alright, but only looked to have one guy in the lineup who can score quickly enough to have a crack at that target.

It annoys me. Teams shouldn't schedule series if the best players aren't fit enough to play them. I would rather just have less cricket, TBH. The Aussies do this all the team. They play an ODI series they clearly don't care about and pick players who are no where near their best.
-
@hydro11 Why? In rugby we never play our best team against any of the tier2 and even some of the tier one teams. Given we've already played Aus in a series this season (and they owned us) it makes perfect sense for those players that want a break to take one.
-
The Aussie scheduling this year is crazy, Davey DD has said as much publicly already and I agree with him.
-
@No-Quarter yea, their whole system is skewed, with the domestic game not syncing with the international game, the BBL taking over (understandably) and the Chappell-Hadlee really screwing things up

Is Warner going to play some of the T20's vs Sri Lanka? I just don't see the point in playing the games at all if the best players aren't involved. Schedule less games if players can only play less games. Rugby is a bit different because it is more physically demanding and you have to blood players.
It's not just us either. Australia refused to take Hazlewood or Starc to South Africa (and got creamed) and they sent Smith home from Sri Lanka. Basically Aussie Cricket just refuse to pick their best players for away games but they make sure their top players are playing the home games. It creates a fundamental asymmetry in cricket if teams only care about winning games at home. Australia clearly didn't care at all about the series in South Africa or Sri Lanka, so why should the viewers care? The ICC cares. This is why they only want teams to play about 12 ODIs a year. All this cricket has become meaningless because the cricketing boards themselves don't seem to care.

I think they sort of have it right with the domestic game. They get the one day stuff over and done with quickly and then the whole season is devoted to the shield with the Big Bash in the middle. In NZ, we only have one round of 4 day cricket before the 1st test against South Africa. That's hardly enough for Raval and Nicholls.
They just play too much international cricket over in Australia.

@hydro11 Thats what happens when the cricket board is effectively made up of 3 nations.
I am sure that Aus are still confident of towelling us without Warner.
The question is less of whether they will win. The question is more about whether the viewers will care. It seems the Aussies don't value playing us very highly (Warne said in commentary he would rather have the top guys playing shield cricket). For us, it is probably the pinnacle of the summer.
Sport needs to be meaningful to get people to care. ODI cricket doesn't seem to have that right now.

Pakistan can not wait to go home. Aus batting first and are currently 207 without loss after 32. Warner with another quick hundred, Head playing the foil.
400 on offer given the hitting to come

And they can't catch for shit
I hate the high balls. Preferred the ones you didn't have to think about. Square cut to point in the bink of an eye? No problem. Skied ball to long on? Fuck that...

@mariner4life eat a dick.
When is Queensland Day? Or do you all celebrate when Daylight Savings starts in southern states?

@mariner4life oh right. Sister live nearby then?
