277 - 6 at stumps.
Haven't watched a ton of the the game, but it seems a slightly tricky deck, so Aussie probably ok with that score.
But India won't be disappointed either, given that they lost the toss and the Aussies haven't run away with it and they're into the non-specialist batsmen.Interestingly poised so far.

@billy-webb my impression too, though he is a pretty good keeper, and can bat.
Very tidy keeper I think.
What I like about him is he displays real steel when Aussie are in a spot of trouble.
One of the few guys I felt who came back from the tour to SA with an enhanced reputation. -
@billy-webb that bloke has done a fucken noteworthy job for his country's team.
He's just given his all to lead the damage control that he didn't make nor was even 5th in line to clean up that fucking mess.
His life turned upside down in a week and he was tasked ( almost single handedly) with reviving cricket in and for Australia.
The guy has done his level best to be honest, straight and a front for residual Aussie cricket public disgust.
Whatever his on field achievements he's shown his true character these last 8 months.
Fucken champion.
His wife had their 2nd kid in September, joining a 16 month old boy.
When Davey went troppo, Paine had an under 1 year old with one in the oven.Bang!
You've got Australia's biggest job
I think he's done well๐

100% agree with all of that.
Interesting to hear some more of his detail, thanks Siam. -

Looks like a great stadium...
For football !
Hope they go back to the waca for all but ashes tests. Normal test matches need a grass area. 7 hours in a plastic seat won't work for the kids, or many adults
Why bother with that? No-one in the stands. Stick with the WACA.

That's when we're at our most dangerous!

Dumbest comment I have heard so far from Comms team.
"If they make some runs in this first innings they will be right in this test match"
Lol that's some 90s black caps level trauma right there.
'if we bowl them out for less than 250 our batsmen might not fuck it up'.
Anyone remember when we toured there in 93 and Australia's entire top 7 all got at least one century each in the series ?
Christ on a bike. Horrible times.

Pretty sure this series was on TV3? Was pretty young but remember a lot of Dipak Patel batting as a legitimate top 7 batsman (which made sense to me as young tacker because he was batting 3 or 4 for Auckland when we would watch him at the Outer Oval). Also remember a shit tonne of Tim May who seemed average even to my uneducated eye yet seemed to be giving our team fits.
Half-decent trivia question from that series though, as you said the top seven for Australia all scored centuries in absolutely smashing us, who scored the most runs in that series?

Pretty sure I was on study leave in 6th form so needless to say watched every ball on TV3.
Top seven off the top of my head was Tubby, Slats, Boony, Afghanistan, Captain Grumpy, Tugga and Heals. In other words hands down the best lineup of the 90s......one that only got stronger when Hayden, Langer, Ponting and Gilly came in.
Complete wild guess as to who got the most, maybe Boon?
I also remember McGrath debuting and fairly sure Dipak Patel batted way higher than he should have....

It's been a really absorbing day. Just watched two hours of Kohli and Pujara vs Lyon, Starc,Hazelwood and Cummins, and it was brilliant. Hard graft from the bats, good discipline from the bowlers.
Ended with Pujara tickling one down the leg side off Starc. Almost felt like an anti climax.

Fuck that was a rough call on Kohli IMHO. Decision was hardly conclusive, so the TMO must have been pissed off to have to back that up
If you want some decent cricket feel free to flick the channel. Black Caps going good.
