Personally I prefer calm and emotional stability in a leader, not drama and reactiveness. His behaviour -whether genuine or a front - will be having an impact on his staff. Wouldn’t be surprised if the guy who quit had had enough. He was in the box with Eddie in one of the teams first games and appeared startled and didn’t look to appreciate Eddie throwing his ear phones or radio down at one stage.

    @Daffy-Jaffy

Watching that, my immediate thought was he'd been over-indulging on the turps.

To be fair I thought some of the follow up questions around Quade were a bit stupid, that seemed to be the tipping point where he started getting annoyed at genuine questions.

I do think Aussie are going to go well at the WC to be honest. I can see them getting to semis then who knows? One game away from a final.

    yes

turned down the Dragons job, was supposed to be Craig Bellamy's successor.

Now he's a rugby attack coach apparently.

I didn't know he was coaching. That AFL dude has carved out a decent rugby coaching career so maybe he'll do ok?

So boys, we’re gonna keep it pretty tight for a few phases, maybe a bit of width and a 2nd man play on phase 4 or 5, and if nothing comes from that, let’s just kick it - everyone got it?

@Daffy-Jaffy I can see why judging by that video he's sick of the negative line of questioning. There's ways to interrogate the same issues without being so negative.

Yeah they should be totally positive about a 0% win record, singing praises about a record world ranking low. Eddie's Ozzie have tanked, and taking a bunch of babies to RWC is not going to work. If he stopped lying and admitted that they've given up on this year's cup to focus on the lions and 2027, he might get some more positivity.

At least gatland was honest about that, rather than the bullshit Eddie had been spouting

@Machpants he has repeatedly pointed out they're taking youth with the right attitude. Because otherwise he'd be taking the same failed squad and questions would be asked why. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

I've only seen this clearly edited version of events, but....

    • Seemed drunk
    • He'd landed on one message he wanted to portray, and even with a journalist asking the most positive possible question in the world, ended up forgetting/spinning it to that one message
    • Kinda like... a drunk
    • I don't like to brag... but I'm quite qualified to judge on this

Disclaimer: Can't be arsed watching any full 20-minute version of things to see it all in context.
That's not the modern way. I have seen an edited twitter-version, and judged on that.

If I was to guess at the total 20-minute version, there was probably a shit-ton of negative questions beforehand, and he only lost the plot near the end? Even so... some pretty thin skin, or lightweight drinker, to get rattled that badly.

Agree, he was halfway to smashing David Boons record before even boarding the plane

Basically, pick anything related to rugby league and Eddie's all over it.

And, TBH, why not? Rugby Union in Australia has no fucking idea what it is doing.
