@antipodean look, we are never going to agree, and again i am going to have to reiterate this is my opinion based on when i played
i performed that action so many times for no sanction.
I also find the fact that no Chiefs reacted in any way, including the offended party, telling.
-
@mariner4life It was a different game back then. A player like Swinton would be sorted on the field and learn a valuable lesson in the process. Now that sort of education would receive an unholy sanction - that's why you don't see players giving him a smack in the mouth.
I don't consider this card a problem as much as the ludicrous fiasco that was Vaa'i being sent from the field for a rest.
-
@antipodean The rules may be 'clear' to you. But they fucken aren't to any ref or decision maker, apparently. There hasn't be one iota of consistency all year. Its a free for all.
Given the clusterfuck that it's turned into and the fact that he doesn't really lose anything by getting a 6 week ban over a 4 week ban, why wouldn't you roll the dice.

Can I just point out something else that’s a bit wrong with rugby in aus
Our club game doesn’t finish until after 5pm in Melbourne…and the final starts at 530
Would we have changed the start time of an Aussie team had made the final?
If so we’re making this thing up week to week
We’re just making it hard for rugby fans to watch rugby

Weird - we kick off First Grade at 3PM (Premier) and 3:15PM (Subbies) respectively. Usually means you're done before 5PM.
Would we have changed the start time of an Aussie team had made the final?
It would have been 7.45PM so wouldn't have mattered?
-
@kiwiwomble the final starts earlier than 5.30. Starts at 5.05

Yeah, ours starts at 3:30 but even if you do finish at 5 your still going to miss something
I was meaning if it was in nz but an Aussie team had made it

Yeah , Physio just told me that, I’d assumed it was coverage starting at 5, use to start at 735 local time

Thought those Neanderthal features looked familiar. He’s the guy who was sent off in the Bledisloe game last year. Might be something of a liability for Rennie.
My immediate thought.

If Jordie Barret doesn't even get a yellow card for head contact with a Force player, then Swinton "Just got it a bit wrong".
I'll bring up DMac's RC and suspension and compare the two.
Despite being told by all and sundry that I'm wrong (I'm not), the difference between an inadvertent collision and a deliberate targeting is crap. Did they bring in the NRL judiciary and tell them Swinton was needed for Origin?

Wallabies scrumhalf Nic White is out of next month’s Test series against France after suffering a knee injury at training, Queensland’s Tate McDermott is now set for his first Test start after two matches off the bench, while Brumbies No.9 Ryan Lonergan is likely to make his debut.
Waratahs scrumhalf Jake Gordon is in camp on the Gold Coast with the Wallabies but is also recovering from a MCL injury and remains an outside chance of being available. White suffered a medial cruciate ligament injury this week and has returned home to Canberra. With the injury not requiring surgery, he remains in the frame for the Bledisloe Cup with the first match on August 7 in Auckland.
