All quiet on this front....
I'm not overly confident, some interesting changes to the team, most notably, yet another change to our mid-field and Matich to the bench. I want to give these coaches a shot, but I am struggling to see much value they are providing, when we look our best is when the boys are playing loose 'Northland' rugby.
Also Werahiko still on the bench, I assume he didn't play club footy up here?
Saw the Welly boys on their flight to Whangarei yesterday, not as big as I thought they'd be, I only recognized 3 of them.

Werahiko played the whole club season down here, and last year too.... he's not a bad signing. I thought he'd make the Canterbury squad, and even thought he wouldn't be far away from the crusaders 3rd hooker role.

@SammyC cheers, I am sure he is a good pick up, just seems odd that the NRU have had this policy for the past few years of only picking players (super players aside) that are currently playing club footy here to now nab him mid-season...granted our 'best' 2 hookers are injured and the need for a quality replacement.
There are some fickle fairweather fans up here; moan cos we lose, moan cos we sign players from out of region wanting locals used, but it is unfortunately obvious some of our 'local' players are not quite up to it, not to mention the fact that there isn't really a definition of 'local'

I wonder if there's been a Blues approach?
Blues have lost MacDonald and I'd be amazed if Moulds is not cut given how little game time he got under Umaga. That leaves them with one hooker on contract (Parsons) and no Hookers were in the recent signings.
I would hope Tana is chasing GPT hard, but even that would leave all the hookers Northland has used and maybe Sua going for one spot. There's not many options because NZ does not have 15 Hookers capable of playing Super Rugby.
-
@Duluth possibly, although Olsen looks a very good prospect, then there is Ross Wright who has been a rock in our front row (when hooking) and even had some time in the BLues team in a pre-season match about 4 or so years back (under Lam IIRC) he has been hindered by being signed as a hooker and played as a prop.
Moulds seems to have all the attributes, apparently very good work/training ethics, Tana (or may have been JK) said he was a good leader for the young guys, yet neither JK or Tana seem to give him much time on the park, so yeah I'd be surprised if he is retained, and TBH if I was him it might be time to look elsewhere too unless he is being 'promised' better things.
