I have this feeling that Guppy will play a superb innings that will buy him another season for the test team..

Guppy should work on his bowling.. He could be our version of Jadeja..

Kumar is getting good shape already in these conditions

Just seen our team. On paper that is the weakest batting we have put out for a long time (I've blanked out the mid-00s).

Tail starts at 8. Only 3 proper test quality bats in the top 7 ( although credit to Ronchi who I haven't included in this 3).

Guppy - finding new ways to get out - though Jesus Christ, Mimic - when a man is struggling as much as Guppy at least try not to condemn him to certain dismissal with "feelings he's going to play a superb innings"! 🙂

Pretty sure last time Rosco was captain he played some rather handy knocks to win us the game in Sri Lanka. Same again please...

Jesus that guppy dismissal pissed me off. Fucken hard enough beating India without gifting them wickets.

Keep waiting for Kane to stride in and save us.....

    Your turn again captain Taylor

Missed the end of the Indian innings, but the net result of that session is totally shit for us.

India get 77 runs and two opening batsmen.

We get 21 runs and three tailenders.

Latham and Guppy both pretty much gifting their wickets - you'd say Guppy's was a freak dismissal, except that he'd already been clipped on the elbow doing exactly the same thing.

I suppose I would have expected a Pavlovian reflex to being hit on the funnybone by a cricket ball propelled by a test class seam bowler - that you would have been reasonably keen to get your fucking elbow out of the way the next time - but I am not a highly tuned athlete totally grooved in my technique! 🙂

Latham - well, if you were allowed to review, I probably would have. Latham was looking to leg glance but too late. Probably clipping leg stump, but maybe not - there was plenty of angle.

I've decided the TV commentators are highly unreliable in their responses to umpiring decisions - they'll agree with the umpire unless he's blatantly wrong. Late last night they blithely noted that Jadeja got an inside edge on a plumb lbw. I'm pretty sure the reason the umpire didn't give it was he thought it possibly pitched outside leg (again I'm pretty sure it didn't). We got no forensic examination of the inside edge, but I was certainly far from convinced that there was one. The cricinfo commentator agrees with my conclusion and made no mention of an inside edge.

    Henry to Jadeja,
no run, gone, is it? Looked very close, perfect follow-up to all those wide ones. This pitched on leg stump, back of a length, straightened into Jadeja, and kept a little low as he jumped in his crease and played across it. Umpire may have thought it pitched outside leg

Does Raval have to have incriminating evidence about Gavin Larsen before someone will drop Guptil from the test team? Nicholls is also getting into the pushing-his-luck category...

Ronchi with his 59 test average needs to counter punch his way to a ton here.

The comms are infuriating with the LBWs. "I've checked the hawke-eye built into my brain and can confirm that would have been umpires call even if he could review".

Outrageous shot from Ronchi. Effortless. Need to watch that variable bounce though...

The truth about Raval is that his record isn't stellar. It's good and he deserves to be in the squad but his record isn't so good that it can't be ignored. I think Raval has more than earned a spot ahead of Guptill. Most of the people I have read about Raval say that he is a good player but he hasn't shown signs of brilliance. His FC record gets better every year but a lot of players score runs in the Plunket Shield who don't deserve a call up.

All good I checked my hawke-eye and Ronchi's LBW would have been umpires call if reviewed so no controversy.

Jadeja's incessant appealing pays off and he gets Ronchi with one that is missing leg. Lame.
