The funny thing with Kearney, despite the criticism ,
A modest win loss over australia of 28 percent makes him the most successful kiwi coach ,
No idea how he will go at club level ,and the warriors is a graveyard for coaches,
but ive found the kiwi team to be pretty well drilled in more recent times, particularly when they have been rocked by injuries

I think this may be a great decision.
He has learned his craft under a couple of the best coaches ever, which has to be a good thing. Failed at the Eels, but he'll have learnt from that hopefully...
I just hope we never see Bodene Thompson or Simon Mannering playing standoff. Never ever!

That escalated pretty quickly. I was for the return of Cleary but this is Doyle's club and he is a NZRL man to begin with. Like the board to oversee operations but I don't get Mangini tbh.

Well this is a bit odd if they do intend to keep Cappy on - it could cause issues in the future. Lets say that all the Australians that came out publicly in support of Cappy have issues with Kearney and all the kiwis in the side are happy with him. Cappy should have been completely cut adrift.
I was hoping for Cleary and his son Nathan Cleary, instead we get Kearney and I expect his son Peta Hiku Kearney Jnr will sign with us soon.
I don't have an issue having Mangini on the advisory board, it's good to have some different backgrounds in governance.

He'll suck. We'll suck. The torches and pitch forks will be out just before Origin. We'll then win 5 from 6 to grab 7th spot, and the media will start wanking over what a great job he's done. The wheels will fall off when the good teams make their run, and we'll finish with 4 losses to come 10th.
Having 2/3rds of the kiwi team playing for the same under-performing club side will turn out exactly like we expected, and international football will return to the one horse race it was last decade. And the NRL won't give a flying fuck .
That Hayne thing is a massive beat up. He's doing nothing but being seen with a bloke who is a bit of fluffybunny. He's not "giving him cash", he in a room with a guy making a video of himself being the man.

If they don't strengthen their defence and make more dummyhalf runs, they'll struggle yet again. If they correct those, they'll make the top four.
Would have gone with Cleary but now we're on a journey with Stephen Kearney.

My money is on it not working out either ,
Partly because I'm not convinced Kearney is the right man , and partly because it's the Warriors , disappointment seems ingrained in the club culture .
And I'm not bashing , I follow an afl club with the same disease . -

There will be room in the 8, but the top 4? If you had said it about the Panthers or the Titans i would have been with you. Even then, the Titans maybe not.

The Canes got the monkey of their back by winning Super Rugby after 20 years ( everyone was all over talkback when both sides had players suspended at the same time and naturally that comparison was made ) The Warriors haven't....surprise, surprise.
I was in Sydney in 2003 and the hype around the Warriors being a real chance to win was infectious. Jones, Toopi, Lauatiti.....they had some genuine class and shit they were an exciting team to watch but chances like that don't come about often, maybe once every ten years or so ? the NRL is hellishly tough to win, hats off to the team that manages it each year. Not sure why there's constant disappointment when in my eyes the Warriors perform about as well as I expect year in year out.

We had the core of the 2002/3 teams years earlier - it wasn't until Anderson showed up that things started to turn around by making the finals in 2001, then minor premiers and grand final in 2002. If you had have said in 2001 that the Warriors had minor premiership potential if you just added PJ Marsh, Brent Webb and John Carlaw you would have been laughed out of the room, but they did. Very high ceiling and very low bottom with the Warriors core.
Still looking at the squads from those years not sure many of the Cleary/Price year sides weren't better overall - 2007 specifically - just lacked a trump card in the halves and Cleary just plain sucked at getting the Warriors up in the finals when they weren't underdogs.
I don't think Sneak is too crazy to say a Top 4 is out of reach. The table is always super congested, they have a reasonably talented squad, if the coaching is above average they could get there, don't underestimate the ability of other teams to fall off even if everything looks rosy.
Very bullish on all the hires and retaining McFadden seems like a 'mature' move.
