Black Caps tour of India

Bloody great result in the end there. Henry on the first day was sublime and Ravindra.. well he speaks for himself. Fantastic.
-
Who gets player of the match? I’d go with Ravindra just from the absolute poise he showed at the crease. Henry unlucky.
-
Three candidates for MOM.
Given we’re in India I’m sure they’ll pick the batsman so it’ll be Ravindra despite some terrific efforts from Henry and O’Rourke….
Some terrific contributions from Conway and Young’s poise is worth noting too. Can’t be easy filling in for KW.

Quite happily basking in that win. A long time between drinks, going back to the days of R J Hadlee and J G Wright.
Yep, you cannot underestimate how hard it is to win there.
That’s why their players have such amazing records at home.

I think O'Rourke is MOTM. His spells in both innings won us the game.
Ravindra will get it because the game is biased towards batsman.
Ravindra will get it but interesting point.
Henry looks better on paper but as you point out O’Rourkes bowling changed the game more.

you talking about the game still, or is that a verb?
Maybe my plans for the evening after that result. I’ll let you all know in due course.

Ravindra - scored about a third of our runs for one out
Will bowled better and got more top order batsmen than Henry. I'd give it to him, but suspect they'll pick Rachin

Rachin MOM well done, certainly a few could have got it
-
Innings from Young today was superb under pressure and the confidence of Rachin really helps. Still can’t believe the result

Boundary count update -New Zealand: 72
India: 67
I am glad people are still mocking that. Winning the CWC only to have it handed to the opposition over a bizarre boundary rule only used for that single tournament is one of the biggest injustices in the history of cricket.

Kudos to Conway. He's not totally back to form, but he got a meritorious 91 in the first innings, and played a crucial part in the second. He was very uncomfortable especially against Bumrah, but he put his body on the line and did his bit to blunt the Indian spearhead, paving the way for the victory

That really was an incredible test. The drama of bowling India out for their lowest ever total at home, a record we will hold for a long time. Then the way Latham and Conway went past their score batting in almost the same conditions was epic, and the tears from the Indian comms were delicious. Then Conway and Rachin showing their class, before the unlikeliest of hero's with the bat Southee not only making a superb half century, but also going past Sehwag on the test 6s hit list just to rub it in even more, and getting us up to 402 to build a massive lead.
Then the fight back from India in their second innings was incredible given the way the game had gone until then. Rohit and Kohli showed their class, and Sarfaraz just belted us mostly to third man for a pretty remarkable ton given his technique and batting style. That was a real onslaught but we held our nerve, and O'Rourke stepped up and swung the momentum and we immediately capitalised to roll through them again and limit the damage, but it still left us with a nerve wrecking total to chase.
Despite the conditions and the quality of opposition, Young, whose technique has been found out in the past, was just all class. Left well, didn't chase the ball outside off, and punished the bad deliveries, guiding us to victory under huge pressure from India and their baying crowd.
I will enjoy this one for the rest of my life. So many amazing moments in the test, and an emphatic victory in the end to really stick it to India. Sets up this test series beautifully as well.
