Ryan Fox out to defend his title at Wentworth this evening. He's playing alongside Rory and Justin Rose.
He's already underway and is even par through 3 holes. Another Kiwi Daniel Hiller is also in the field and he is even par through 6 holes.Heading along to this on Saturday. We are supposed to be having a bbq lunch with Ernie Els. It'll be the 3rd time this has been planned, and the last two times he's had to cancel (not a corporate thing, he's friends with a mates Dad who lives on Wentworth).
Fingers crossed for 3rd time lucky.
EDIT: I need to stop posting. Just been confirmed he can no longer attend. I seem be jinx'd on TSF today.

Saw interview with Fox on CGW last night. Has a hip issue which he has to manage - I expect the doc told him to lose some weight to reduce the strain.
Yeah and hes highlighted the need to potentially get some actual work done on it. The weight loss would help. Will be challenge as hes said a few times that his biggest vice is the buffet table.
Finished -2 in 60th at the BMW. Not a great result for the defending champ but at least made the cut. I watched a fair bit of it and he was even more wayward than usual off the tee. Hit some awesome approach shots though, absolute darts. New putter was OK

Great final round by Kazuma Kobori over night in the Dunhill with a final round 65 to end up finishing 12th (-16) in a high quality field. Hillier a couple of shots back at -14 and Sam Jones -12.
Fox was going well too on PGA and started his final around pretty hot but just dropped a shot. Currently T8th at-18, 5 shots off the lead

Fox finished T11 so jumps up to 102 in the FedEx Cup Fall rankings. He needs to stay inside the Top 125 to keep his PGA Tour card for 2025.
Some decent recent for those Kiwis playing over in Scotland at the Dunhill. What a final round for Kobori. He isn't a big hitter off the tee but his ironplay/short game and putting definitely makes up for what he lacks in distance.
Hillier will need to keep churning out some decent result to make it through to the DP World Tour playoffs in the Middle East come November. He would have been disappointed to finish the way he did after doing so well in rounds one and two though.

I'm a massive fan of this kid. Yeah not a big hitter. He's only 5ft8. Some of his approach shots of just top class and when he's running hot with that putter, its almost unbelievable.

Third round of the opening tournament the Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour and two kiwis in the top 3.
Daniel Hillier leading by 2 shots at 13 under par through 8 holes and Ryan Fox sitting in third at 10 under par through 11 holes. Some big names in the field including defending champion Rory McIlroy, Tyrell Hatton, Adam Scott, Min Woo Lee etc plus Jon Rahm and Victor Hovland who both missed the cut.
It's also a Rolex Series event so a decent amount of money up for grabs. -
And neither kiwi went too well last night. Hillier -1 for the round and 2nd overall, Fox shooting par and ending up back in 10th. Whilst I'm sure both will be happy enough with it as a start to the season, both squandered opportunities. Hillier also really does not seem too confident with wedge in hand at the moment.

NZ Open week!
Still not a fan of the split course approach but a pretty decent field this year. No Fox or Kobori however our kiwi LIV boys Danny Lee and Ben Campbell are back for it, along with Steve Alker, Dan Hillier and the more local kiwi players like Mike Hendry (won the Race to Tieke last week). Nick Voke also here and playing ripper golf at the moment, winning Webex Series in Sydney yesterday. Luke Kwon has even accepted the invite but not sure he will make the cut. Good selection of Aus and asian players too are turning up. Josh Bai, Robby Turnbull and Cooper Moore are 3 young amateurs to follow.
Sky have the coverage. All 4 days from 2.30pm

Would be nice to have a Kiwi win it. Hasn't been a Kiwi winner for a few years now.
