Black Caps v Sri Lanka Test Series
-
Watched quite a bit of this last night. Went to bed just before Kane got out and I had a strong feeling he was about to.
He'd started great - 36 runs off 36 balls and then he just got becalmed, while Ravindra was scoring freely.
Kane's remaining 19 runs came off 68 balls..

Ravindra given out lbw when the ball came off the middle of the bat was quite amusing.
I'm reviewing - have you seen me umpire - I'm reviewing.....
DRS is such a great contribution to the game. It has done exactly what it's meant to and effectively eliminate the howler.

Gough was terrible, made another howler too. Have come to really like the review system.

Southee maintaining his average of the last few years does make his selection as captain a bit unfortunate.
Not sure why we felt the need to have 3 left arm spinners (if we include Ravindra) but I don’t know the make up of the Lankans batting line up well enough to comment whether Bracewell might have been more dangerous than Santner. 2 leftarmers and 2 offies. Of course my dead Grandmother is more dangerous in tests than Mitch. Hopefully he proves me wrong later in the match.
Philips freakish ability to bowl brilliantly for a non frontline spinner should put Santner and Bracewell on notice.
Those two are the very definition of ‘part’ rounders. Phillips looks to be a much better batsman, not to mention bowler currently

@MN5 I know he’s only had 7 tests but Phillips averages would suggest a bowling all rounder rather than batting. Aves 17 and 33 respectively.
First class stats would suggest otherwise but we’ll see. That bowling average won’t stay like that at test level !
Maybe he needs to leapfrog Blundell and bat six ?
-
@MN5 can only hope it does stay that way, but yes tiny sample size. Blundell still close to 40 ave I think so probably correct order at the moment. Certainly promote Phillips if quick runs needed. Blundell better higher up if new ball due I would think, so good to have both options.

@Chris Yep - the time to win this game is right now!
Yes bat to a lead of $150 plus.
is that the odds you give us in achieving that?

@MN5 you've already been warned once. STFU with your positivity and optimism.
This is the fucking Black Caps we're talking about.
Amateur.
A more appropriate post at the end of play when NZ are involved is. "We are fucking doomed. We are only 570 in front with nine wickets in hand and we will be batting last against Kenya. We have no fucking chance".

@canefan and when they do I'll be getting the tar and feathers out for @MN5
I’ve predicted far worse in the past.
We got this, hundred coming up for one of our guys this innings plus some handy support. No bother.
