Southland v Otago

@Kiwiwomble it’s his knee. Came back through club footy but has had a set back.

Players unavailable due to injury for Otago. Thomas Umaga Jenson, Will Tucker, Tom Sanders(shock), Jake Te Hiwi, Jeremiah Asi. No word on Haig(Jacobsen and Tuipolotu got injured at training this week… is it possible?)
You'd think that they would mention why a regular top pick isn't in the squad. He is our best blindside and second best lock, and no where to be seen.
-
@SouthernMann Haig was sent off with a concussion at the end of the last pre season. May be something to do with that
-
@KiwiInLondon interesting. You’d think he would be mentioned in the injured list with the others then…
-
@Landers92 can confirm it’s definitely the concussion
-
Solves the mystery. A bit of poor admin from the ORFU not to mention and cause confusion. I'm a massive fan of big Oli Haig
-
@SouthernMann makes sense to rest him for Southland, a game that Otago should win comfortably
-
@KiwiInLondon
It will be tighter than you think, IMO. The Southland pack looks very solid. -
What I also want to know is how do five players get injured at training? The amount of injuries Otago has, particularly muscular leg injuries, must be a reflection of extremely poor conditioning and warming up. You don’t get that if you’re fit and warming up properly
-
Ascot, Fischli, Leo-Willie, Timu all out

From the already named squad? That's going to make things difficult.
-
Jeez that’s horrendous for a squad naming that was released 7 hours ago… testing the depth early, this could be painful.
Also, still absolutely nothing from the ODT about team naming or the game. Horrendous. Could be a good place to let us know about all these injuries and what not you would think…
-
Will be interesting to see who comes in at halfback. Will it be Bob Martin, Brad Campbell or will they roll the dice with Pledger. The other guys you can work around and still have a decent starting side. The depth might get tested off the bench though. Chuck Stodart into 8. Aho in at lock. Or move Stodart to six and play Konrad Toleafoa at eight. Centre will be interesting. Does Whaanga go there, with Kyan Rangitutia onto the wing. Or do they bring Levi Harmon straight in. Certainly tests the depth in positions we expected to be spots of strength. In terms of the ODT @Landers92 their focus is still the morning new cycle. It isn't a digital first new service. Unless the local Stuff reporter has put up a story.

Apparently it’s not 100% confirmed all four are out but all went down in training with injuries

Nah. Nothing even confirmed

A bit of an unfair headline from the ODT. You break down the forward pack, locks and loosies, not including openside. The most talented four players are Lio-Willie, Haig, Holland and Stodart. They should be all playing, if available.

Looking at the back up teams just named. Some interesring players not included. They are; Konrad Toleafoa (no8), Levi Harmon (centre) James Bolton (lock), Dylan Pledger (halfback, of course). That tends to suggest they may be elevated
