NRL 2024

Well fuck.
The Warriors were equally pretty bloody impressive and disappointing at the same time, while going down to the Doggies in golden point.
After ALL of our back three got injured we played most of the second half with RTS at FB, Walker and Niukore in the centres, Pompey and Capewell on the wings. As our last sub standing, poor old Feddy Lussick at about 80kg dripping wet had to play as a middle forward to give Barnett and AFB a quick breather.
It was gutsy a performance as you’ll see, and we were out on our feet for most of that second half, but we did have 2 or 3 opportunities to have a crack at a field goal in the last 5 minutes of regular time, but I think 2 of the occasions we just totally fucked up and didn’t even get to the kick.
We also had one partially charged in extra time, sending it just wide of the posts.
So good to even be in that position with backs against the wall, but disappointing not to be able to execute.
And for what it’s worth, I think they should swap RTS and CNK around. RTS just seems to create a bit more at the back than CNK…. CNK can easily take his high effort, low error rate game into the centres and do well.

Broncos v Panthers was a shit game with a couple of absolutely cracking tries to break the monotony. Corporate box at Suncorp is awesome though.
Saturday was shit. Warriors brave, but we had what, 3 chances to win and missed them all, can't call us unlucky after that.
Melbourne made harder work of the Tigers than most expected.
Then the fucking Cowboys lost in GP as well. Val Homes is the luckiest man alive today, as he bradburys his way in to another Origin jersey. -
Also, in today's edition of "M4L knows fuck all about footy" Billy Slater watched Qld's pack get absolutely owned in game 2 and thought "i know what we need, the same forwards but a back on the bench". Whose wife has David Fifita fucked? Capewell shouldn't be starting for the Wahs let alone Qld. Same with old man Kaufusi.
When Latrell went down i thought we were a chance, now it looks like we are relying on Suncorp being the difference.

Good fight from our side though, didnt think we even deserved to be in it after we lost our entire back three to injury.
Roosters keep on rolling and Newcastle look a little bit better (although still tried to lose it) with KP back
-
@bayimports Knights probably lucky they were playing the attackless Raiders

There is a rumour doing the rounds about Walsh and Fifi not getting on and Billy siding with Walsh, have no idea how accurate of rubbish it is, but its circulating on SM.
I thought losing Latrell would be a big loss for NSW, but then Billy picked Capewell, NSW will be excited

Both us and the Bulldogs were shit, but I thought we did well to manage all our on field changes, but how can we not kick a drop goal or for that matter finish off a number of attacking chances (Bulldogs the same).
This was an annoying game to watch, made more annoying by the result, the highlight being the young forward's spectacular run to almost seal the match.
-
@Nepia yeah, the young forward was very good, hoping it wasn't just seen as impactful because everyone else was gassed, if he can bottle and repeat that then we will see more of him for sure
-
A day on, and i still don't know what the fuck Billy is thinking.
Did he get tricked by a few long range tries against 12 defenders once the game was over? Does he now think "of if we don't give up a 6 try lad we can open them up late?" because that's idiotic.
If you had to pick the four best forwards across both teams you would probably go with Haas, Murray, Crichton and Martin. Maybe Nanai and Carrigan are in the conversation, but that's a telling thought. And to stop the speed and ferocity of those forwards you pick fucking Capewell?
Off the bench they are bring Spencer Leniu who comes on with blood in his nostrils and goes hard as fuck. We bring on who? Fotuaika and Kaufusi???? Anonymous so far this series.Capewell is going to have to wind the clock back 4 years, Collins is going to have to have one of the all time great performances, and they have to find a way to get the ball in Nanai's hands more than 3-4 times. Cotter needs to aim up as well, he might be just a little small to play prop.
It's an ugly thought. -
also, nice to get the utterly pointless Monday Annesley "yeah we got that one wrong" about the Salmon late hit. And the excuse makes it even worse. They spent so long looking to check it was high they forgot about the late. Fuck off.

I don't want to hear that shit unless he's willing to give us the points as well
-
Fun first half of Bunnies v Dolphins. Dolphins clearly playing the better footy, but still 18-10. Both fullbacks have ben superb, as well as Bostock for Dolphins.
Don't normally enjoy non-Warriors NRL (or Warriors NRL), so that's saying something.
-
Tevita Pangai is some player with the right coach. Has all the talent in the world, but never was quite there between the ears, but with someone guiding him like uncle Wayne, you have a top class player.
-
last night was the best he has played in years. Very specific role, did what he needed, with a fair amount of punch.
The best coaches make the game very simple for their players. -
Hasnt signed a contract yet either, could be another one that comes to Souths with Wayne
-
@bayimports They need middle forwards too so it makes sense.
-
Origin weekend is always good for some shadey results.
The Dolphins killed the Bunnies off
Cronulla officially knocked the Tigers out of premiership contention. If you need a statement win, apparently what you need to do is pick Nicho Hynes, lose, and then drop him/have him injured.
Gold Coast beat the Eels (who signed Ryles as their coach). DFi with a lazy 179m
The Broncos are cooked. The Dragons might actually play finals
Lol at Newcastle who got flogged by a DCE-less Manly. The NRL ladder is a little more clear cut i think. Who ever loses on Friday between us and the Raiders can start making holiday plans for September . If, and it is a big if, Brisbane can get everyone on the park, they are the only ones outside the top 9 i can see getting a run at it, and that's just on the fact tehy actually have talent, and a positive for and against.
Still not seeing anything that says it won't be two of Penrith, Melbourne or the Roosters on GF day
-
Actually didn't think DFif was effective as he should be, still a decent coach would have him playing better than Capewell.
Manly like they have all year, can look like prem winners and losers in the same game, although this time, just like winners. Turbo creating havoc. If ever a team outside the top four could knock anyone over, it would be these guys.
Ryles free to leave Melbourne as of yesterday, if he moves early then I would hate to play Parramatta as well, as players start playing for contracts. Not many easy games for anyone in the run home as the comp is so even, I think I have ruled the Wahs out already and would not be surprised to see a late AFB switch for Cronulla finals bid. There was a lot of talk that Trindall was the problem for Nicho, after the weekend I would suggest Nicho was the problem for Trindall.
Start of the year SJ and Nicho a couple of the golden players in the comp, now respective teams would arguably like to have them stay injured
