Always interesting how few players Westlake seem to get into the North Harbour sides each year despite absolutely dominating at schoolboys level. Plenty of reasonable explanations why, it's just curious that it doesn't seem to affect other similarly successful schools around NZ.

Six games in four years for Ta$man. Tavatavanawai was also rumoured to be going to Southland. Wonder if this cleared some money for him to stay at Ta$man now.

you do have to wonder if this is the same thinking that got Southland into trouble in the past...are they actually going to get a return from reece? he's almost certainly going to be with the AB's, and unless the highlanders are looking at him i cant see the wider benefits of strengthening connection to the region

@Kiwiwomble pretty sure when they play for the ABs, NZR reimburses thier NPC salary, they are more on the books for the marketing side of things than boots on the park.

I haven't heard anything yet. There is a training squad called the cavaliers but I don't know who is in it. I hear Sekope Kepu will play. Sotutu will be there if he misses out on AB's. I would imagine Roigard will be around and will aim to play a few games. Ezekiel Lindenmuth and Tevita Ofa are the only re-signings recently announced. A young guns to look out for would be Joey Taumateine. A few of the pros are back in club rugby.

@mikedogz Cheers. James Thompson would be handy too. Probably have some good players returning from Moana Pasifika?

A rough guess of the top XV
    Kauvaka Kaivelata
    Ioane Moananu
    Sekope Kepu/Suetena Asomua
    Jimmy Tupou
    James Thompson
    Alex McRobbie
    Alamanda Motuga
    Samuel Slade/Sotutu
    Roigard/Jon Taumateine
    Riley Hohepa
    Peniasi Malimali
    Nick Foliaki
    Tevita Ofa
    Joshua Gray
    Etene Nanai-Seturo

A few other guys with Pro experience to fill out the bench
Ezekiel Lindenmuth, Zuriel Togiatama, Viliami Taulani, Sione Molia, Toni Pulu, Ahsee Tuala.

Hopefully not too many losses from last year except for maybe a few of the older boys if there is some good young fullas seen in club rugby and the guys that were in the Super U20's.

Wellington's likely 23 taking into account players that may miss out on AB selection today. I have bracketed players who will likely start if some of those players are picked.

    1. Xavier Numia

    3. PJ Sheck
    4. Caleb Delany
    5. Hugo Plummer
    6. Brad Shields
    7. Du Plessis Kirifi
    8. Peter Lakai (Dominic Ropeti)
    9. Kyle Preston
    10. Sam Clarke
    11. Pepesani Patafilo
    12. Riley Higgins
    13. Billy Proctor (Peter Umaga-Jensen)
    14. Julian Savea
    15. Ruben Love (Tjay Clarke)
    16. Harry Press
    17. Bradley Chrichton
    18. Siale Lauaki
    19. Akira Ieremia
    20. Dominic Ropeti (Sione Halalilo)

Yeah man, he's had the worst run of any player I can think of. Had serious injuries every year since he was at school. Not sure if he'll come back again. Harry Press who has come back from Otago will likely be that second hooker unless Dane Coles wants to do one last season for Wellington haha.
