Can always count on DWZ to be lost on defence. And now a clothesline into the bargain.

@Donsteppa how can someone on the wing be so utterly useless when the sideline does half the job?

How to butcher the last half of an attacking set. Featuring DWZ with white line fever.

Opening 20 was outstanding, then the rain started, Melbourne remembered they were Melbourne, and we remembered we can’t play in the rain.

And fuck the refs. There were some fucking atrocious calls out there against the Warriors.

I support Melbourne but growing up around the Auckland league scene many years ago always have a soft spot for the warriors, my second team .

I actually expected the warriors to win this one at home , just thought they might bring a level of energy and enthusiasm that the storm cant match on the night.

And was looking that way early, storm are just so consistent, it’s like week after week they are 8 out of 10 . They are beatable but you are going to have to play well for 80 to do it .

I expected the Warriors to win too, because this year we seem to win the ones we're expected to lose this year, and 20 minutes in I was feeling pretty cocky with my prediction.

But the Storm had Hughes and we didn't.

The refs/TMO are copping it on the league forums (and here a bit) but they weren't the reason for the loss, not even close.

Also, why was Tohu even playing? He's clearly broken, he couldn't even take a hit up, and spent the who match taking the ball and passing it awkwardly. Why was SJ playing? He didn't seem fit either or is it just a case of they can't get the team going with two halves operating as halves? We've gone from TMM doing nothing when SJ is around to him doing too much with a bunch of times the ball going to him when it should go to SJ.

I hope we at least tried to keep Katoa. Every Storm match I've watched he's been class.

This feels like a bit of an old school Warriors rant. I must admit it is somewhat comforting. 🙂

@Nepia I was out and didn't get to see the game. But it seems to me if SJ and Tohu weren't good, why did Webster put them back in when the squad had been playing so well already? Wait until they are properly ready to return

Not sure, maybe he thinks he needs to integrate them back in while the team is (was) going well? Maybe SJ was just playing within himself so as to not rock the winning formula, but Tohu definitely looked completely broken.

The refs weren't the reasons for our loss. I must admit though, if TMMs head high was on report and a penalty, Faalogo should have gone for HIA. Having him off the field would have helped us no end as well!

I was also hoping the little clip Egan got across the face from Hughes was a penalty. Would have asked Egan to pretend he needed HIA assessment (which wouldn't be hard for him to do) and then activate RTS as 18th man to cover Berry.

Also, why was Tohu even playing? He's clearly broken, he couldn't even take a hit up, and spent the who match taking the ball and passing it awkwardly. Why was SJ playing? Agree with all of this, not helped in second half by losing Berry and having to play broken forwards out wide. Even Walker in pain every time he tried to stride out.

I hope we at least tried to keep Katoa. Every Storm match I've watched he's been class.

I think on this one, he is a better player for going into the storm system, always had talent, but hitting new levels this year (last year still injury prone) Im sure welcome back at any time.

Funnily enough Im sure we beat a few teams playing like that last night. Hughes and Storm looking good, but as said above, you have to be on your game for 80 mins. DWZ misses next week also due to a brain snap, Both our wingers lost the plot last night.

I tell you what, Jerome Luai really could be the answer to helping turn the Tigers fortunes around. Man he's a gifted player, and looks even better as a 7.

    weird round
There are clearly two very different Cowboys teams. The one that got towelled up by the Warriors at home last week, and the one that went to Canberra and smoked the Raiders.
Brisbane are cooked. Too many injuries. Riki should have been sent off for that shot as well.
The Bunnies are dragging themselves off the canvas
    The Tigers won spoonbowl
The Roosters were too good for the Eels in a pretty fun game
Manly too good for the Dragons as you would expect despite their ladder positions going in top the game
And for something new and different Penrith won

For all the parity and closeness in this league, i look forward to Penrith v Melbourne at the end of the season

    Origin teams:

    NSW swing the axe.
Nicho Hynes gets rissoled for not turning up in Game 1, and being shit at club land since then too. Mitch Moses in the halfback
McInnes dropped for Cam Murray, which isn't a surprise.
    Latrell is back at centre

Apparently the only changes for Qld is Hopgood is hurt so Kaufusi is in, and for some reason Cobbo out and Kurt Capewell in. Capewell is a stupid inclusion IMO.

No real surprise in NSW teams, Latrell forced his inclusion.

For Qld though, Cobbo supposedly playing through injections hence dropped and replaced in squad by Gagai. What the hell Capewell has done this year is beyond me. Fafita must have done something seriously bad somewhere.

Curiously again on coaches. Billy drops an in form player for playing with needles (eg not 100% fit), anyone watching Edwards yesterday and think that he was anywhere close to his top fitness has to be kidding themselves. Lets see how this selection plays out.

Should really only be Penrith or Melbourne who top the table. A heap of teams could beat them on their day in this weird comp, but minor premiers down to two teams
