anyone got any goss as to why we only signed him for one year? our idea? his idea?

Probably because he was constantly injured. It was also mentioned by a good source that he was a cheap signing too

Yea only offered a 1 year on almost the minimum.
Turned down a much better (money wise) extra year at the Blues for more of an opportunity.
I believe he may have re signed w the Landers
    Not sure for how long.

Out of that group I'd be keen on Heremaia Murray, tangitau (even though doesn't sound like it is happening), Sinkinson at a stretch), Bailyn Sullivan and Brewis

I'm hearing Vikena and Tangitau are locked in for the Highlanders

@Nogusta That's good. Not surprised, though I was disappointed when told the other day it wasn't done yet.

Just 3-4 spots left to fill, and once again we're upgrading where we need to.

JJ doing a good job upstairs.

Tangitau is an awesome signing for the future. I wonder what story he has been sold by management in terms of gametime. I don't see much or anything between him and the two starting wingers, with him having more long-term potential.

@Tim I'd be very happy with Grant, Howden, Jacomb and Sullivan.

Howden is signed for next year but wouldn’t be surprised if he made the shift after that. Out of all our blindside options I think he has the biggest future because he’s a natural 6 and he’s young but won’t get a chance with Flanders and Shields ahead of him. If he goes anywhere I hope it’s the Landers.

Tangitau is a huge win for the Landers. Damn I was hoping Laidlaw would have targeted him as a replacement for Moorby as he’s coached him in the sevens and under 20s. That’s why I don’t think Sullivan will leave the Canes as there’s a starting spot to play for.

Landers will have some class back three options next year.

A little academic but Naitoa Ah Khoui and Rob Rush were (very) near misses.
Ekuasi could be on the cards though.

That would suggest the theory though, that the Highlanders are needing a tighthead, a lock and a loose forward (reckon Hicks could well have been shown the door). If there is another one, it will be a back, and it will be a low-key addition either at 10, or they are waiting to see if anything comes up in the NPC, because we've got good backs all sorted.

Yeah the last back I'd back to be Byron Smith, unless he does something very wrong

@SouthernMann Guess it depends how he goes. They may not want three 10s u23... that said I reckon Faleafaga could potentially see time at 12 for Otago, and that could be a catalyst for a position change.

I think three young 10s fits the team's style. I'd like to see Faleafaga given a go at 12. I'm just worried about how many midfielders Otago has. Which could impact young wingers getting a go. Let alone 10s getting a run at 12.

Ekuasi would make sense and wouldn’t count as a foreign player. Also only 22. Between him, Renton and Stodart that is some solid depth at 8. I’d be on board with Ekuasi for sure.

How reliable is this inside info, don’t want to get my hopes up…. Haha
