and they score...cant buy a trick at lineouts otherwise we'd be well in this :(

-

Hawkins on...

oh look, we lost another lineout....:(

Olsen showing some nativity/inexperience as a captain in persisting with kicking for touch when we cant win a lineout... -

not many arms in that

-

second time now TJ has mentioned we have lost our 2 main targets in FV2 and Pryor...not to mention Goodhue.

-

and they score again, next play after a lost lineout, again.

new rules can suck a bag of skunk cocks!

-

surely Ram was on the ground they had to let go??

-

Akira is a tosser!

-

he saw that one!

-

yay, we get one back, nice pass from McLeod

As long as we dont need lineouts, we could be ok
-

sensational sideline kick...30-15, little too late unless we can score in the next 5.

-

he was in front

-

nah he was good....

-

Why the hell are we putitng in so many stupid little kicks?

We lose so much around the field with Talaese on the field. There was an opportunity for a counter attack then yet Talaese just put his head down and carted it straight up and we missed out on numbers advantage out wide. Scrum hasn't been as dominant since he came on either.

The amount of injuries we've sustained is a big worry considering we need to back up on Wednesday
-

from what I gather Kara is good to go on Wednesday, as is Moulds.

-

some odd substitutions truth be told, to go with some very silly play, not sure it is all leadership, but has been an issue

At the game and in line with two big decisons:

- Auckland's first try, the winger was standing in front of the first five before he received the ball, let alone when he kicked it
- Breen's intercept, how were we offside?

Still not a great performance from us tonight. Lots of endeavour later on but that first 30 minutes was just full of errors and generally we lack composure. Losing 3 players early and having our lineout just collapse around us - we needed someone one to change it up. That said the forwards were easily the better half of the team tonight.Great scrum performance and on the back of that the backs should have done a lot better.

The wide passes were not working in the wind and the conditions were calling our for some smarter variations - short grubber kicks which we firstly ignored and then executed poorly, too long. In the end it felt like our backs offered nothing. More changes required here I think - tactics and players. Breen should try more tactical variations. Macalai is class, Nock is coming on, Tamati Tua looked good first up, but would bring Lawebuka back to the other wing and Alaimalo into centre. And dare say it, I think Hawkins looks good at fullback. We have to offer more on attack than we are now. Let's try something ambitious.

This was not a great Auckland performance and we let the opportunity slip.

Flush this down the toilet and let's make sure the next performance is a good one. This team is very capable.

Just got in from the game,

Frustrated more than disappointed,I could'nt help but take on board a comment from a referee from Auckland that's officiated a couple of games in the Northland club competion this year,

Northlands performance this evening mirrored the standard of their club rugby..!
A very telling comment...!,

The loss of Goodhue,Faleafa and Dan Pryor, did'nt help our lineout, impressed with our scrum, and our pick and go,whilst the kicks in behind Auckland were the right idea, they all seemed about 5 Metres too far.

The ball handling frustrated me,as we gave Auckland easy possession, the chasing of high kicks was average, and we struggled to adjust with Aucklands line speed,I will keep banging on about this, but it highlights areas I see in Northland club rugby, and is the prime reason why many of our players struggle at this level,

Thought Matt Matich was outstanding.
