the short term fix is working out how to only open the stand opposite the camera, i know none of these stadiums were designed to only partially open.....but it just seems obvious, some temp fencing or gates, pack these crowds in, start making it look like a fun place to spend a few hours

    This is happening more.

For the most part the Cake Tin crowd are opposite the main camera.

I've noticed this season Eden Park have closed most of the old eastern terraces which makes the north stand and corner stand look fuller.

    It works well.

Eden park obvious has too do it more being so big to start with, dont feel Forsyth barr does is much as i often think the crowd is disappointing and then you get a reverse angle and north stand is quite full

Stuff's NZ SR team of the season. Dominated by Hurricanes although the selection of the 6 might be softening the blow when the ABs are named. Also, for those who criticise Stevenson's defence from fullback, Love only has a 69% tackle success rate himself. More detail in the article below.

    The Press

    15 Ruben Love (Hurricanes)
    14 Sevu Reece (Crusaders)
    13 Billy Proctor (Hurricanes)
    12 Bryce Heem (Blues)
    11 Caleb Clarke (Blues)
    10 Damian McKenzie (Chiefs)
    9 TJ Perenara (Hurricanes)
    8 Hoskins Sotutu (Blues)
    7 Peter Lakai (Hurricanes)
    6 Cullen Grace (Crusaders)
    5 Fabian Holland (Highlanders)
    4 Patrick Tuipulotu (Blues)
    3 Tyrel Lomax (Hurricanes)
    2 Asafo Aumua (Hurricanes)
    1 Xavier Numia (Hurricanes)

That side seems pretty spot on for me apart from maybe Grace. Probably the first time in history we've had the form front row in the comp. Could be the reason we go all the way this year as long as Lomax gets back on the park.

It's ridiculous. He got slightly better in the final third of the season but he was abysmal early on. Some laughable efforts on defence.

I'm guessing Cully felt he needed to include at least one from each franchise and there's been no standout at 6 (Finau slightly inconsistent, Ioane missed a lot of matches etc.. but they had far better seasons than Grace)

Looks pretty good to me with the exception of Grace. 12 is a tough one too - a few contenders.

Flanders has also been pretty impressive for the Canes, almost to the point he's pushing Shields out of his spot.

They mention that Grace is in the top 10 of tackles made, not the number he missed. And Reece is included so there is a Crusader.

I know that some people on here have been able to get their hands on stats harder to access, I'd be fascinated to see them for 6s.

If Grace gets named at 6, I'll fucking laugh my tits off. He's got talent but has been terrible / good / terrible / good. We don't need a pasty white Frizell.

Number 4 on tackles missed. Behind only Tom Horton, Tamati Tua & Chase Tiatia

Number one on the worst defensive game by a single player with 8 misses in a match

The last 1/3 of the season I would say his defence has been fine. That first 2/3 was abysmal. He was a big factor in the early Crusaders losses

@Duluth The number of tackles is an indication of workrate but for an international 6 I'd be wanting to see dominant tackles. Are those stats available?

    @Bovidae

I have dominant tackles for each match. Unfortunately I don't have season counts for that though

@Duluth Their whole loose trio was a mess, Gardner, him and Christie were awful together. It was ony when Blackadder and Lio-Willie (despite his shocker against the Brumbies) joined Grace where their loonies somewhat improved

The average attendance for each NZ team in Super Rugby has been finalised below. I miscalculated the Canes one initially because I factored in too many games.

    Blues: average attendance of 21k
    Hurricanes: average attendance of 16.1k
    Chiefs: average attendance of 14.2k
    Crusaders: average attendance of 12.6k
    Highlanders: average attendance of 12.5k

Reposting this chart that @Tim Posted a while ago

    download (4).jpeg

Blues would be third, Canes just behind the Bulls, Chiefs just behind Saracens

Helps if people observe and comment on what is actually happening, and not parrot the trendy narrative from 4 or 5 years ago. Anyone who has watched rugby in the last few years could see it's been awesome. It's just not been cool to say so.

@booboo the death riding of rugby in the NZ media over the last few years is really obvious... and odd...

With the first three QFs being non-competitive blow outs should Super Rugby just culminate with SF and F?
