AFL 2024

I hate AFL 2024, just so much. Yes Hawthorn away is a bogey for us, but usually i blame the travel to Tassie, we didn't even have that, we're just shit. Teams move the ball from 50 to 50 through us so easily, as they have for teh whole of Fagan's time in charge, and yet nothing changes. Daniel Rich had to drop himself last year because he knew he wasn't up to it, but Fagan refused to cut him. If a clearly tired Carlton didn't fall in a hole in that prelim last year Fagan would be in a very hot seat. The Lions have a few players who should be in the 2s, but no one gets dropped at Brisbane, we just have lessons and learnings (that no one pays attention to apparently).
That is the Lions done for the year. And i am pissed about it. That list should not be missing finals despite the injuries.Sydney are still good.
Maybe Collingwood aren'tWho fucking knows with the rest. It's a case of roll the dice for any given game. Essendon are 2nd at 8-1-2 and have a percentage of 104 FFS.
-
Yeah the Lions are cooked. I thought at 3QT they'd roll over Hawthorn, but the reverse happened.
Neale looks good but the old achilles heels keep getting exposed over and over again. They aren't as bad as their ladder position but jeez missing finals ain't good with a list this good.
I'd say the window is closing but I actually don't think it is. Good young guys plus another Ashcroft about to come through the draft. No reason they can't be a factor for the next 3-5 years.
-
i am loving watching the swannies...thats all...very enjoyable
-
@barbarian i don't think the window is closed at all. The guys who are out are some of our best players, and hugely important. Ashcroft was so good in the first half of the year i actually think we win the GF if he plays. Coleman is the guy who starts all our attack AND is a key at shutting down opposition attacks. We brought in a gun defender who didn't even get on the field. Those guys coming back would be enormous for us.
Harris Andrews and Lachie Neale are elite, and in the right age profile. It's only 10 months since Charlie Cameron was the best small forward in the game.
But they definitely need a strategic rethink. And someone needs to work out Cam Raynor, or trade him away.
-
well, yeah, he shits me to tears.
And we signed fucking Eric fucking Hipwood until approximately 2035 just to compound it. -
-
this season is absolute chaos. Even the short bye round had all sorts of shit going on
Carlton beat Port in Adelaide in a good win. Suddenly Carlton are good again? Port are just happy being mediocre
Dogs beat Collingwood in the battle of "who has the least out?"
It's like 6 weeks since there were rumblings that maybe Hawthorn should sack Mitchell. Since then they have won like 4 from 5, and the loss was where they gave up two goals in like the last minute. They tuned up the crows
The Saints bored their way past West Coast
Geelong got lucky against Richmond
Lol at Melbourne getting fucking tuned up by Freo
Then the Suns tipped over the previously flying BombersSydney didn't even play and went further in front.
The ladder is ridiculous. Sydney are first by 2 wins and about 48 percentage points.
Then it's like everyone else down to the shit teams headed by Brisbane in 13th.The season is drunk as fuck
-
....i got 2 tips.....and one of those was geelong who took the lead for the first time just before 3Q time so was looking very grim for a while
on a more posative note, went down to north port and watched some VFL, lovely day on the embankment behind the goal with a beer to see Borough spank Willy.......
-
@antipodean if the latest is to be believed, and given Leigh Matthews' current position, it would be hard not to, then the claims against Chris Fagan are that he nodded his head during a meeting.
What an absolute shitshow.
-
@mariner4life after two reports stating there's no basis for the claims of racism, this is starting to look a lot like secret women's business. The big difference is the impact on the professional and private lives of the accused. There should be consequences for this nonsense.
-
Was doing some work and listening to the game on the radio….hearing the commentary change when we switched on was sweet
-
Swans are something else right now. Brutally dominant.
It's a long season but unsure who runs them down from here. Melbourne went 12-0 a few years ago but it felt like there were more quality teams on their tail.
Carlton probably the next best team and they didn't lay a glove on Sydney a few weeks ago at the SCG.
-
try and be humble, a few injuries and things chance....and then anything can happen come finals
but given all my other teams its good supporting a winner
-
no one else can stay good for more than a fortnight at the moment. Carlton were out of the 8 two weeks ago, they are now 2nd and the "next best team"
Tipping is completely fucked. So while the quality of the football isn't always elite, at least fans of most teams are turning up every week thinking they are a good chance to win.
-
So you can stick a fork in Melbourne now that Petracca is done for the year.
-
We've hit the bye rounds, but still weird shit aplenty
The Lions tried to lose to the Saints, i mean we let a Ross Lyon coached side score 100 points FFS. But we scored 120 ourselves. The Saints have attacking talent that's wasted under Ross.
Sydney are so bored with the regular season they are just amusing themselves by giving up a lead and then smashing the opposition anyway. One bloke kicked a genuine bag.
The Dogs upset the Dockers.
Richmond got towelled up in Dusty's 300th
Poor old North gave up 6 goals 4 in the last quarter to go down by a pointThe ladder gets more congested every week. Two wins separates 3rd and 13th

going back to this one as it still holds true....ive never seen someone kick 9 before....was amazing, especially considering i think he'd only kicked 1 in the first half and the was benched most of the final 10
