Cheika has been mentioned for the Waratahs job. Would he take it again?

How do you think it will effect the Subbies mate, and how have ties been cut in NSW.

    Money, mostly.

With the professional cash segregated, the funding model of community rugby suddenly gets more exposure in terms of risk.

As a Board, NSW Suburban Rugby has repeatedly requested what we get for our $1000-per-team "Rugby Australia Participation Fee" and the answer is not satisfactory on each occasion.

I always used to wonder in Qld if the subbies wouldn't of been better off without having to have much to do with Prem club admin etc.

QLD (Brisbane) Suburban is a shadow of its former self. I understand it is now limited to a single grade, Friday night comp playing against Premier Club 5th/6th Grades. Hardly surprising as Premier up there is big and fairly well run.

Sydney Premier is far more inequitable across the board, and continues to cling to the dream of 4 Grades + 3 Colts (U20). Not sustainable and I've even had a Chair of one Premier club agree with me on that.

You get a Wallabies team and a RA board.

At 130 teams across the board, I don't think $130k is going far...

Plus that money is channeled via NSW Rugby so I doubt whether it finds its way to Moore Park!

I used to get infuriated with that particapation fee when I was tied up with club in Brisbane (can't remember how much it was for seniors then), but I know we were paying $200 a team for even juniors which absolutely disgusted me. Mind you it was opposite to what I had been used to from admin in NZ , so couldn't get my head around it.

Coleman open to Waratahs return while three candidates floated as his successor

Coleman open to Waratahs return while three candidates floated as his successor

Sacked Darren Coleman says there's no bad blood between him and the Waratahs hierarchy as he is willing to return.

Doorn said the recruitment process to find a new coach started as soon as the board made the decision.

He didn’t want to name coaching options but said he hadn’t heard from former Waratahs and Wallabies coach Michael Cheika, who led the team to the Super title in 2014.

Current NSW assistant and Australia A coach Jason Gilmore could be in the mix along with Fiji World Cup mentor Simon Raiwalui and former Waratahs centre Nathan Grey, who is the Australia U20 coach.

Junkyard dog is such a funny nickname for a wing. Eben etzebeth, Jerry Collins, etc they're junkyard dogs. Tim Ryan is not.

    Still bloody good wing!

He reminds me of Ben Tune when he burst on the scene.

Hopefully he doesn't have the same injury record that Ben Tune had.

@African-Monkey if you were Joe Schmidt, would you pick him in the Wallabies?

I think they need a player with a bit of x-factor despite his lack of experience.

@Canes4life Absolutely, him, Toole and Tom Wright as my back 3, with Kellaway as back up.

@African-Monkey agreed on those four. I think Kellaway has to start though. He’s class and has plenty of experience. Maybe bring Junk Yard off the bench when teams tire.

Wright looks good in provincial Rugby with his hoppy-skippy bullshit and big-man attitude.

He typically sucks at Test level where that shit doesn't work

I'm really not sure. He had had some poor performances lately

I don't like him for some unknown reason, but there's no denying he's playing some good code right now. Whether he reverts to form in the crucible of Test footy...

That being said I'm a fan of picking form.

The Wallabies team at this stage should be the best combinations available in the Reds & Brumbies.

McReight is the 7 - first picked IMHO
Valetini has to be in the back row

Other than that you could lean either way. Brumbies couldn't match it with either the Blues or Chiefs this year. Reds failed utterly against the Force in Perth. However, they're the best we've got so Uncle Joe needs to find what works once they get together.

Maybe a couple of Rebels like Kellaway and Gordon make it in. Holloway and Swinton from the Tahs maybe. Not sure any Force make it besides maybe Rodda and Tizzano as the backup 7, but Schmidt won't like the latter's attitude.
