@MN5 These sort of stupid mistakes and excuses are why many people are losing interest in Rugby. It is a professional game , administered poorly in places and stupid behaviour like Pennys is condoned. The game has many problems that need to be addressed urgently yet fans still defend it..
Not sure about that. There's an old saying that any publicity is good publicity - and rugby is a particularly bland sport, where anyone who puts his head over the media parapet can expect to get it shot off.
Didn't Tyson Fury's dad head-butt someone at a press conference last week?
Has that affected boxing's popularity?
-
@Chris-B It's affected Tyson Fury's popularity having his stupid father around haha.
On Penney, meh. He was annoyed at the questions a journalist was given to ask him, probably didn't deal with them as well as he should have but this stuff happens all the time in sport. No big deal.

and to be completely honest I don’t feel sorry for them.
I am shocked....deeply shocked!!!
I've rung TVNZ to see whether they want to lead with this "Fan of other team has no sympathy" story in their 6 pm bulletin!
Is that all you took out of that whole comment? Lol. Making a comment and hurting a Crusaders fans feelings, wouldn’t read about it! 😂

This bit from 1News is interesting
1News understands some senior players have struggled to get on to Penney’s wavelength due to, among other things, what they see as an inconsistent selection policy.
Is that the same 1News whose reporter was called a fluffybunny?
A lot of weasel room journalists afford themselves in the word 'understands'.
I thought the original questions were direct and reasonable. I thought Penney's answers were good and used an appropriate tone and language to soften the interview. The reported didn't have the competence to change tact and continued to provoke a bloke who didn't select the better course of action of saying "I think we've already discussed that".
-
No dif journalist and I think his questions were fine. Penney was defensive and very short with his answers, he would've looked a fuck load better if he had taken the questions with maturity and expanded on them. If you take one of the greatest ever rugby teams from the peak of awesome straight, no decline, just straight to shit in one season, you gotta expect tough questions and learn how to deal with gobshite reporters
EDIT: There were rumours of complaints around the chopping and changing before the cunterview

I'd be more hurt if people were feeling sorry for us.
I'm pleased to see people revelling in it. With just a touch of trepidation lest we turn out to be some sort of rugby playing Jason Vorhees, who somehow come back from certain death to dismember their favourites in the play-offs*.
*Don't worry, I suspect the credits are about to roll. Jason will have to wait for the next episode!

Jokes and sarcasm don’t get picked up well across messages do they, nor do they on this page haha. It’s only a bit of banter mate. Oh well, appreciate your input though

@antipodean The Scotsman looks to be doing a decent job - but, there might have been some "just give it to Ardie and stand back and watch" play in the past.
-
Not that this is really ground breaking news anymore or anything but I have heard from an extremely reliable source that the Crusaders are pushing very hard to get Mounga back for next season.
If there were any doubts around those stories just being rumours, they can definitely be put to bed.
I didn’t ask any other questions about what the chances were with him getting out of his contract etc but from what I understand Japan clubs aren’t keen on giving early releases.

Very very hard to get out of a Japanese contract,However Todd Blackadder is the coach of Ritchies club in Japan that may help.
I hear maybe another ex AB maybe on his way back from Japan for 2025. -

Hopefully back with us if that’s true but I could see the Chiefs or Crusaders making a push for someone like him.
