For me the funniest thing was, where were Penrith when the Warriors were asking for a player swap when they found out about AFB? ouch

Fisher-Harris only made it known to the Panthers that he wished to return to NZ this week. The fact that the deal was done so quickly is why no rumours were circulating.

@Bovidae this is where it always gets murky and there is always an element of what both sides say and what is reality. How convenient that he told Penrith on Sunday and the Warriors already had on offer within the very next day that matched the requirements. Now don't get me wrong, I am happy for the Warriors to get ahold of a 3peat champ and golden boot winner, but if you believe everyone that no conversations took place before last week then you haven't watched much rugby league :). I would suggest someone was talking with JFH before this weekend, even if it wasn't an official club member (even though technically they should be allowed, but it happens)..

Similarly last week Lomax wanting out of his contract for ages and only just granted permission to talk, but insiders talking for months this was already a done deal at Parra and conveniently one appeared very quickly.

@bayimports Penrith don't need any player swaps lol, they always have someone coming through, hence why they're always at the top.

@African-Monkey true, although I suspect they go after a big forward. Uto already mentioned given he has a get out clause

@bayimports Yeah it is a hard position for a debutant to make an impact straight away. Wouldn't surprise me if they went for an experienced campaigner as a stop gap either, someone in the Jarrod Wallace/David Klemmer mould until their juniors get fully up to speed. Utoikamanu is starting to live up to his potential so far this season too which would make perfect sense if they did infact go for him.

Thursday nights never live up to the billing
Melbourne v the Roosters should be a show stopper. It was not.

My ladder prediction hugely overrated the Roosters. They are the very definition of "the game isn't played on paper". Lots of names, none of the output. They lost last night despite some huge calls going their way (fuck up Robbo, your team was kissed on the dick last night, had the Storm down to 12, and couldn't score more than 12 points). No linebreaks is telling, their only attacking weapon was high kicks to tall wingers. Tedesco is still red hot garbage, absolutely slaughtering every attack. Throw in two absolute brain snaps and he was close to worst on ground. Their spine is rubbish. Their rotations are weird. Manu is super dangerous, but from centre he plays back to the middle too much, looking for the big play. They are just an ordinary side. And they are losing a few this year, they will be worse next year. Window closed.

The Storm just keep grinding out close wins. Their defense is incredible. Grant, Hughes and Papi are a great spine (Munster is doing nothing and they are still winning), Coates is now an elite winger, their pack is tough (Katoa as good an edge forward as any in teh comp). If they keep winning like this though, Bellamy is going have a heart attack.

@mariner4life Roosters have a great forward pack, some superstars in their backs but hardly ever look like a cohesive unit. Largely due to their spine as you mention.
Manu was practically unseen in the first half but when involved in the second he was a machine, he clearly needs to touch the ball more often than not, you can clearly see why people always said he should go somewhere else as he is a natural fullback. Although should be playing there next week as Teddy should be punished for deliberate tripping

The good thing for teams playing Melbourne is that they are clearly beatable, but the bad news is that you have to be right in the fight until the death as they are incredible at winning tight games. Hughes probably at the top of his game this year

@ACT-Crusader He still had two years at the Panthers it was only the fact he wanted to be closer to his family.

As we know, contracts in the NRL are about as useless as an umbrella in a typhoon.

I don’t know JFH and his family situation, but he was holding a lot of cards in terms of choosing his future despite the in-term contract.

@mariner4life I don't generally give Kent much of my viewership but I don't remember this type of carry on when Lomax signed with the Eels

Good start from the Warriors dominating territory, but playing very conservative when attacking the Dragons line, we are seeing nothing but one out passes.

Needed to turn pressure into more points, as predictably the momentum is changing.

We’ve given the Dragons 3 soft penalties to get out of their own end now.

    And the Dragons score.

After dominating the game, the Warriors find themselves only 2 in front, 6-4

The old tits for hands Warriors are showing their ugly heads.
Montoya loses it in front of his own posts, Dragons score a couple of tackles later.

    Sort your fucking shit out!!!!!

Warriors of old have definitely turned up tonight.

ANOTHER soft penalty to let the Dragons out of their own end, followed up by a set re start… Dragons score again.

They must be 3 tries from 3 times inside the 20.

This is just an utter garbage last 20 minutes from the Warriors.

Penalties, soft defense, poor attack inside the 20, it’s all a bit concerning.

Now salt in the wound, a 2 point field goal on the stroke of halftime.

Warriors with some serious work to do, down 16-6.

@Donsteppa it’s got me scratching my head, as we looked really fucking professional and dominant in the opening 20.

    Completely opposite second 20.

Worst possible start, Dragons score from their first set.

We won’t come back from 16 points down 2 weeks in a row, game over.
