there is often a debate wabout what actually is Australia's national sport. Is it AFL? Beloved in 3 states and growing in 2 others. Is it cricket, the one true national love that owns the summer? Is it swimming, where australia pours millions looking for medals.

None of these are right, the national sport of Australia is the spill. At it's highest level, this is the all too often seen toppling of an elected Prime Minister by a cabinet spooked by polls, or just because some other narcissist wants the job more.

    https://www.theroar.com.au/2024/03/27/previous-chairman-can-not-be-a-scapegoat-first-salvo-fired-in-bid-to-spill-the-rugby-australia-board/

Rugby is trying for its time in the spotlight, as some other group of probable ex-administrators and Shute Shield devotees posing as the solution to all rugby's woes pushes to get rid of the entire Board and start again.

Face value? they have a point. But shit, read their letter, they seem like Hamish McLennan's mates trying to absolve him of the guilt and get everyone else fired as well.

    Should be a fun AGM

Pretty disgusting per play and history white wash attempt by used car salesman McLennan's mates. They obviously are Phil's mates two, as he is mentioned as not to be ousted, despite being all over this mess

To my earlier point: this is why league are streets ahead of us. They don't eat themselves when it comes to what matters.

@mariner4life this bit isn't wrong though is it?

“In fact, the current Chair and the current CEO were directors who were a so called ‘Board Rugby Committee’ and they supported the action to dismiss the Wallaby coach and the appointment of his replacement.

Zero accountability, but it looks like they identified an opportunity to climb further up the greasy pole.

@KiwiMurph You'd have to be dim-witted to not hang on for a Lions Tour.

will wait for it to trickle down to free media, heading out to the suburbs isn't going to save them surely...theyre just making it harder for the few fans they have to go to games

Rugby Vic has just built a new home up at La Trobe uni...not exactly close but at least there is a base of people to attract, the pitch is going to be up to scratch so stick some temp seating around and bobs your uncle

When has that ever NOT been the case, outside the Cheika era?

It's funny because I was reading some old Annual Reports from our Union (Subbies) and the Chairman's reports were saying "hard times ahead" etc. back in 2007 and several times since.

About time we pulled our fucking heads out and stopped thinking we can get different results doing the same stupid shit

DC’s a good man. Done it tough and come good at every level after finding his feet. You’d have thought the Tahs would’ve planned on some mediocre seasons while DC adapted to the step up & they fixed their obvious organizational/talent ID & development issues.

So it makes sense they’d give him the chop before they could see a return on their investment in his development. Doesn’t help that he’s far from a political animal, probably doesn’t even own a tie, let alone one from the right old school.

Based on last night, as much as they could benefit from a player of his talent and experience, the problem was in the forwards.
