Waratahs v Highlanders

The Tahs definitely looked like the better side in the first half. They looked very well coached and seem to have all bases covered.
That said the Landers have the firepower to get on top in the second, just need to reign in the silly errors.

Two poor errors from Gilbert
Landers fans keep blowing him, I have no idea why.
Im a big landers fan .. and not hearing many talk highly of him (goal kicking aside)
In the 2024 thread, the comment was made that Gilbert should be your preferred 12 - ahead of TUJ and potential signings such as Evans / Plummer etc. He's not that quality.
None of those players are at the Highlanders. He is the guy we have. Is still youngish and is learning the role.
I believe it was you who suggested that Gilbert should be selected ahead of TUJ.

Yes I was. As mentioned TUJ isn't there and won't be back. A midfield of Tele'a and TUJ wouldn't be a solution either.

Would love to see Gilbert using his size more - he's a big unit - hit the line at pace - make yards and set up quick ball... he appears to be in two minds most of the time in my opinion - ( too often trying to be a playmaker rather than challenging the line)

Interested to see what happens when Withy and Harmon come on. I hope they are put on straight after the half

I've edited above to show why that comment doesn't matter. My point is that you guys wanted him above TUJ.
Crazy and if the feeling was that a UJ midfield wasn't wanted by the landers, good job you lost him.

The rumor these guys were throwing around pre-season was that they were going to sign PUJ.
The suggestion was that by doing so, the landers could then start a Gilbert / PUJ midfield with TUJ on the bench.

Not a viable situation and PUJ probably decided against it with TUJ predicament wnt

@gt12 wouldn’t have been the dumbest move by PUJ. He’s now down the pecking order at the Canes behind Barrett, Proctor and Higgins so probs would have had more game time at the Landers.

If the landers have supposedly annointed Gilbert as their 12, it would be a dumb move. He'll be fighting with his brother and would be better off cashing on overseas.
