Actually, speaking of the NRL, all this shit makes the decision to pay Joseph Sua'ali'i $1.5m a year (or 5% of the annual broadcast revenue) not only stupid, but criminally negligent.

I agree, but I'm not sure how much of that 1.5 mill is third party deals

Speaks volumes when those third party deals would be better as general sponsorship. Getting Sua'ali'i doesn't fix the problems at SR level.

Yup, but often you won't get that money otherwise. People like the big names

Ha, by people I was meaning those with the sponsorship money to throw around. The want the big names doing stuff for their brand, which is part of the 3P deals

    financial fuck ups aside

I'm reading that Laurie Fisher is being brought back in as a Wallaby assistant. This question is aimed squarely at the Aussies

Is this guy hugely overrated or what? He seems to be constantly brought up as the answer to what ever problem the Wallabies currently have.
He's been forwards coach. He's been defense coach. Two areas the Wallabies have been shit in for ages. Also two areas where the Wallabies have appalling discipline.
I know he wasn't there for last years shit show, but he was there before that, and his specific areas were pretty friggen average.

I'm a fan of his. Was the driving force behind a lot of the Brumbies success, especially at set piece. Seems like a nice guy who is well liked and respected.

His stint under Rennie was pretty brief, and it all went pretty solidly to shit once Eddie punted him. So I think that judgement is a little harsh.

He has a big reputation in Canberra. Most people consider his coaching fundamental to the Brumbies' accuracy and competence at set piece.

Whether his ideas have kept pace with modern rugby is anyone's guess.

Laurie Fisher as Wallaby defence coach is a fuck ton better than Eddie's plan of Brett Hodgson as Wallaby defence coach.

As if the Jones disaster could be any worse, and who signed it off? Unless Eddie could do that himself?

“The over-investment that was unapproved was $2.6 million, which covered three main elements, being team costs, staff travel and then player benefits,” Waugh told reporters.

Beale poised for rugby return this weekend

After over a year out of the game fighting sexual assault charges, Kurtley Beale is set to play for Randwick in the Australian Club Championship.

Beale playing club rugby this weekend after his stand down.

Plenty of injuries at the Tahs. I presume he'll be back with a SR side soon?

Not sure he's flavour of the week anywhere, but maybe injury cover?

Fuck he talks some shit. I wonder if he actually believes it? They'll only be in a better place it they, andRA, survive the trauma!

And because of that, Jones believes the young players he blooded will ultimately become a golden generation for Australia, as they prepare to host the next World Cup in 2027.

“[I] don’t have any regrets. I tried to do my best in a short period of time,” he said.

“And what I think I’ve left Australia is a young squad that’s capable of doing well.

“Sometimes you’ve got to leave things in a better place and maybe you take responsibility for the failure, which is okay.”

Wallaby Pone Fa'amausili open to shifting from front to back row

Wallaby Pone Fa'amausili open to shifting from front to back row

Man mountain Pone Fa'amausili is open to dropping weight to play in the Melbourne back-row as he seeks more Super Rugby Pacific game time.

“People have forgotten that I did play at eight in 2019, I played three games.

“I’d 100 per cent be open to playing there again, but I think I’d have to lose at least 10 kilos – I’m 135 at the moment, so I just need to be disciplined and make the right choices with food.”

Ouch, I hope this is wrong, player pulling out of game because he hasn't been paid money is not what we want happening.

@Dan54 really interesting situation though, the relocation fee is outside his contract (why?)...so is he in breach of contract by not playing?...can they fine him...say...$7k for not playing?
