Gill was a wonder kid, so expect that's why?

AWESOME.

I wonder why I've heard about Jacko Gill for so many years, but never heard of Tom Walsh. And then Tom Walsh beats him at his own game at the olympics!!

Sounds like Gill did well just to make it there given a recent foot injury.
-

Nice work by Walsh, another medal to the tally - both him and Gill looking good for gold in Tokyo.

Man, I was sweating on that last put from the dude after Walsh.

Huge congrats to Tom, did enough when it counted - some of those other finalists were a bit rubbish, with the number of fouls etc. If only Jacko Gill had pulled out another qualifying throw.
-

Wonder kid who didn't make the cut - although it seems injury played it's part.

Really stoked for Walsh though. Seems like a classic NZ slip-under-the-rader but step up when it counts story. Good on that man.
-

meant he was a wonder kid, age group champ, so got more exposure, whereas Walsh didn't seem to take that path.

Walsh has had plenty of exposure in NZ the past 18 months or so, Gill less so, because of Walsh.
