Most athletes go through an absolute shitload of calories per day just to maintain their body shape and fitness level, so I'm not too surprised. I know Rowers eat an absolute shitload at least, I can't imagine what a weightlifters food bill looks like.

Anywyay, some of this morning's NZ medal events (barring bad conditions/wind):
1:11am Women's Kayak 500m Final (Lisa Carrington)
4:05am 470 Women Medal Race
5:35am 49er Men Medal Race
6:20am 49er FX Women Medal Race

There's also the Men's shotput qualifiers at 12:55am, Men's shotput finals at 11:30am, 1500m semis at 11:45am and Lydia Ko's second day.

Well it's 12:45am now and there's still two races to go before Carrington's race (Men's K-2 200m and Women's K-1 500m final B ), so I can't see that happening.

Rio's website has usually been spot on when it comes to race times.

No gold, our girl is in a 3 way decision for two medals after finishing strong. Carrington with bronze!

Bronze, just because we need to balance out the number of golds and silvers...

Only just missed the silver, almost as close as Mahe's margin

Bit disappointing she missed out on silver but eh, that's a good result. Carrington may have won the last world championship 500m but the gold medallist (and multiple time world champ) didn't compete in that event, so it was hard to measure how they stacked up against each other.

Anyone know how the shotput qualifying goes? Seems to be a mark of 21m which walsh and 3 others have hit, Gil is a further 2 places back will they have the best of the rest for the final?

Top 12 or everyone who hits 20.65, I think.

They need to either throw over 20.65m to automatically qualify or get into the top 12.

Edit: I saw that edit, hydro!
