Black Caps v South Africa

267 feels like a pretty evenly balanced chase. We need a big improvement on our first innings, but it's not so much that the South Africans will feel comfortable going all out attacking and not worrying about runs. Given the way this test has gone they're the favourites, but not overwhelmingly and it's probably 'only' going to need one good session to get us back in front.
-
So basically two scores below 250 by South Africa B - glued together by De Swardt and Von Berg in the first innings and Bedingham in the second.
A shithouse first innings by us, requires that we do significantly better in the second innings - but, this shouldn't be beyond us!!!

I mean this seriously.
Friend him on Facebook and start giving him that advice.
He either isn’t getting it or isn’t listening.
I am sure he is being told this it must stand out to his coaches like Dogs Balls.
Maybe there is some truth in to the not listening. -

We should really get this totally one good partnership will break the back of this total.
Yeah - everyone just needs to score six runs more than they did in the first innings.
Can't be too hard - Devon's in bonus territory already!

Should get there it would be another poor batting performance to not get that score.

Maybe there is some truth in to the not listening. It's probably a confidence and mental thing.
I bet they've been working hard in the nets and he's probably looking good there -but, you get out in the middle where the real spotlight pressure is and a fractional lapse in decisiveness has you making a fatal mistake.
A few out of the middle can relax him and quickly fix all problems.
Here's hoping!

Fuck…..
Looked like he was going ok too. Genuinely gutted for Conway there.
That’s surely him gone for the Australia series. The only thing perhaps saving him is the lack of alternative. Young and Ravindra are both perhaps options given their “utility” value ?

So close for Conway. 40/1 is okay at stumps, but getting through unbeaten would have been a clear win for us, but now I think honours even for half session.
Exactly right. He played a couple of really nice shots too.
Cricket can be such a fluffybunny of a game.

I think it comes down to what Young does in this innings. (Hopefully we won't need him). A good score probably noses him in front of Conway, while a failure (especially if it's a bad mental error like the first one) probably enough Conway.
Actually, this is Stead we're talking about. Conway's safe until the next home summer.

I really doubt it, but we should get a very clear indication tomorrow morning - because we can easily give Young or Blundell a chance at "opening" tomorrow morning.
If Little Kane strolls out to face the first ball then surely Devon will open vs Oz.
So disappointing for him (and us). We'd pretty much wrested things back to advantage us.
We should still get these, but it's that bit more iffy.

Far too edgy and innovative for Stead.
