Preseason - Wild Knights v Chiefs (Feb 4th)
-
Tough test first game back for Tupaea, marking a quality midfield of De Allende and Riley.

I only watched a bit, what I saw it looked a typicl preseason game, no real connections in defence etc, almost like the team has just been concentrating on fitness etc at training?? Over the years I must admit the number of preseason hit outs that have looked impressive are pretty low in number.

Only grabbed the reply last night.
A tough watch, Chiefs clueless on attack bashing up pods into a rock wall defense with slow ball creating no space for the backs or anyone else for that matter. No attempt to pick and go or snipe or do anything to break it up.
Wild knights did a great job of playing to the ref and not rolling away, Chiefs forwards didn't show much desire to move bodies at the ruck however (aside from one lone fool stupidly getting yellow carded).
Still preseason so onwards and upwards but all it really proved was that those second stringers are second stringers for a reason...

Well that was a tough one to watch as a Chiefs fan.
It certainly was. At least no injuries AFAIK.
Panasonic are clearly the strongest Japanese club but I can't remember the Chiefs playing as badly as that in a long time. Boshier Jr wasn't a success at 7, and clearly didn't play to the ref like his big brother. This game also showed the importance of DMac and the first-choice back three with the kicking game and counter-attack, which was almost non-existent.
