The NRL Season of 2016
-

A large crowd, not many sporting events on in NZ right now, all eyes on the Warriors and their great run of form.... I should have seen this coming.

Some thoughts:

- Lolohea played the worst game I've seen in a long time by a NRL player. He was a trainwreck and looked scared. Didn't know where to be on defence and refused to put his body on the line. With about 25 minutes to go in the first half myself and most of the South Stand were thinking he needed to be pulled for Blake Ayshford (who was warming up at the time). Said last week that he was out of form but seems far worse than that.

- Maumalo wasn't much better but it was probably more due to Lolohea (he got better once Fusitua moved to fullback after Lolohea was finally pulled). If Maumalo and Lolohea had got their act together the Warriors would have won. They didn't and the Bunnies ran riot on the two.

- Adam Reynolds won the game for the Bunnies with his short kicking game, mainly in the direction of Lolohea and Maumalo. Someone needed to put the big hurt on him but didn't.

- Kata was in fine form again this week with another awesome intercept try. 14 tries for the season isn't bad but Fusitua has 11 with far less games so I guess that's even better.

- Greg Inglis is massive. I don't think it really shows on television but when he bowled past Fusitua (who is 6'3) he looked like an ogre.

- Warriors need the Panthers to lose tomorrow but they're playing the Knights so it means the Warriors are out of the top eight. And playing the Cowboys next week.
-

Cowboys and the Sharks have fallen in a bit of a hole leading in to finals. It's so hard to be up for too long in this league. Unless you are Melbourne i guess. Although that could change in Canberra tonight.

Fucking Warriors
-

I think the Sharks and the Storm cant miss the top 2 now, so they might take the foot off the pedal a bit
-

Storm got pumped by the Raiders last night. Raiders real darkhorses now.
-

Warriors confirm they are in talks with Foran for a one-year-deal at the Warriors in 2017.

That's pretty fucking risky. It won't be cheap (although not a top price contract), his head is questionable, and we'll likely lose a young player, probably Lolohea? Johnson, RTS, and Luke will be on big dollars, a couple of the forwards as well, the cap auditors will be sniffing around if we go down this path.
-

Haven't the Warriors repeatedly stated that Lolohea is on a multi year contract and he's not going anywhere?

I say go for it, I'd like to see what the Warriors can do with a genuine organising half (who's actually talented) for once.

I think he'll be pretty cheap if the aim is to get out of Sydney etc.
-
Pretty odd to confirm they are in negotiations without a deal done, no?

I can't imagine he would come ultra cheap and wouldn't be surprised if a team like Melbourne or Brisbane where he knows people in the set up took a sniff too?

Hope they get him desperate to see Johnson paired with a talent since his debut season when Maloney was motivated. -

given all his off-field issues, surely he should come cheaper now as his future isn't that certain is it.

-

Season looks over for Warriors. Down 22-6 to Cowboys. Looks like Penrith and Gold Coast will take the final two spots.

-

34-6. Warriors were woeful. Jason Taumalolo was Jason Taumalolo.

Might be time to begin enjoying the NFL season....

-

Bunji looks finished in the NRL. Dragons have dropped him for the final two games of the season so they can trial their prospects and no other clubs appear that keen on signing him for 2017.

Meanwhile Elijah Taylor is considering a move to rugby union if he can't get a NRL contract in 2017.
-

It's sad to say, but his form absolutely warrants that decision. It's such a sad way for a great career to end.

This is interesting.

I wonder what position he'd be eyeing up in rugby? Big enough for 6/8? Or more a midfielder.
